Blue moons only occur once ever several years. I'm not exactly sure how many. But it's even more rare that they occur on December 31. Happy New Year!

Night shots are always fun. But when you add a blue moon, awesome clouds, and Christmas lights...it's tough to beat...

Thanks for looking!

I saw that last night as well! I don't have a camera that can really capture it though. Thanks for the pictures!

Beautiful pictures, Chris. It certainly was a beautiful moon last night, and you captured it well.

I"m really sad we couldn't see the blue moon this year. It was snowing. Which of course didn't lead to being able to see the mood. Thanks Chris for showing us some great pics!

This is the first year in like 15 that we had 13 full moons in one year. The next time that will happen is in 2028. Fun fact lol

Yea, something like that. And it's not supposed to happen for another 19, or something. It's definitely not a common thjing, but it does occur regularly. Every year, the extra days in the lunar cycle build up over the days in the monthly calander. When it "overflows", we get the 13th full moon, and the "blue moon"...
