Leprechaun Hunting! ~Happy St. Patrick's Day!~

Mr. Enigma!
I have a funny story for all of you, but first, let me start off by wishing everyone a Very Happy and Safe St Patrick's Day! I know this is a day early, but I would rather be early, then late.

Yesterday Morning, my son Logan woke me up before it was time to go to school. He was wondering if I could go out and get him some "Lucky Charms." I looked at him through my sleepy eyes and asked, "What's wrong with all the other cereal we have?"

He then began to explain that he wanted to catch a Leprechaun and needed them as bait. He also informed me that he needed my help building the trap. I kind of looked at him for a moment. I could feel Christine twitching in the bed next to me. She was laughing to herself.

I got up. It was only a few minutes till we had to get up anyway to get ready for school. I explained that when I went out, I would pick him up a box. I did ask why he wanted to catch a Leprechaun and he replied, "The three wishes!" He looked at me like I had three heads.

So today, I got him his Lucky Charms and just a little while ago, he and I built a Leprechaun trap. It's a very simple trap and you never know, it "might" :shrugs: work?

This is what we started with. A box, some string, a stick, a baggie and of course, the lucky charms:

We tied the string to the stick:

Put the Lucky Charms in the bag:

Tied the string around the bag:

After assembling everything, this is what the trap looked like. We set it up at the foot of his bed, right before he went to bed.

Then his sister wanted in on the act:

Let's hope it works! I wouldn't mind having those three wishes myself. ;)

Thanks for looking!

Yes, that was my first thought as well. Not only was it hilarious, but it makes me happy to see such an awesome father, willing to help his son set up a leprechaun trap.

Thanks Everyone! Logan just turned 8 and he is quite the character. He comes out with some of the most hilarious things and they always catch me off guard.

That's wonderful Wayne!! I'll be heading to the store on the way to school tomorrow morning to get some lucky charms. I think I will be setting up a few traps around the building tomorrow!!

Wayne, I applaud you for being such a hands on and willing father to do something like that for your son. I hope when your kids get older, they realize just how much their parents were willing to fulfill their imaginations when they were young. Kudos to you and Christine!

You have to do things like this. It's fun! It really keeps things interesting!

Just a quick update, I got Logan up this morning and we saw that the trap had tripped. He had me get on my knees with my hands out and around the box. He got on the other side and quickly flipped the box.

Unfortunately, the little Leprechaun got away. :(

He wants to try again, tonight! ;)

That is just to awesome for words!
LOGAN, iF you catch the little green person. Can I have one of your wishes?

Two traps are set. My son thinks I'm a weirdo . . . he's right! (He's a 7th grader at the school I teach in.)

That's awesome! LOL! Logan is only in the first grade. He still has strong beliefs in these types of things. I think it's good for him to continue to use his imagination, like that. LOL!

You don't know the hours/days/months spent laying wide awake at night, at all times of the year, figuring out how on Earth I was going to a) find a leprechaun and b) catch the darn thing!! What I was going to do with the wishes was an afterthought cause I knew I had to catch one first!!
