Lost and Found...Just had to share this.

DragonBoy

Crazy Cornsnake Breeder
Back in 2008 I purchased a pair of hatchling Albino Nelson's at a local reptile show. They both proceeded to escape from their respective shoeboxes with in a matter of weeks. The cats found one about 6 months later which was a huge surprise to me. Nelson (aptly named I know) was alive and other than a tad skinny appeared to be healthy. Harriet was never heard from again and presumed dead as time went on.
Fast forward to 2010...Eddie was in the basement doing stuff today and out wiggled this snake. He knew from the color it was not a wild one so he scoops it up into an empty tank and brings it upstairs. I got home from work at 11:45 pm and he asked me if I knew I had another snake out. He told me where he caught it, its color and size and I said it sounds like nelson...here it was a nelson but not the "Nelson".
She is undersized for her age but apparently she has been finding some kind of wild prey to have remained alive in my house for over 18 months. She is roughly 1/2 the size of her same aged counterpart. She is in a yearling tub on heat with water and so we will see how she fairs from here. She is not happy being pent up right now for sure.
We have an older city style row home and to think she got past 3 cats and managed to get from the upper floors to the basement is just amazing. Then to have survived in the basement for as long as she did.

Wow...after so long its almost like getting a brand new snake!! What an incredible story.

As for being mad about being cooped up..lol... your grounded little milk snake! you were supposed to be home months ago! go to your tub!

I recently ran into a friend from 6th from college - by the name of Kesinne - who will be soon the recipient of a nice new Ball Python... and was very jealous I beat her to it with my two...

She was also very surprised when she finally realised who I was, but thats another matter altogether.

Anyway, she told me this story :-

She used to be very musical at college and one of her bandmates got a cornsnake baby which from her description was one of the more expensive morphs at the time (this is something like 10+ years ago, so she doesnt know the name of the morph) - anyways, living up to their reputation of being pint sized escape artists - the lil baby promptly escaped - her friend was pretty upset and resigned themselves to the fact that the snake was lost for good...

*** cue two years of LoTR changing seasons ***

Kes is still in the band and they go to this friends place to practice - they troop down to the cellar and start setting up the kit, drums - amps - monitors etc and generally banging around and enjoying themselves.... at which point - the bassist - who has been sitting down - suddenly yelps that something bit him on the ankle...

Investigation ensues and sure enough the culprit is located - a 2.5 year old adult cornsnake that was most aggrieved at all the noise and decided to get its own back :). It had been living in the cellar for 2 years obviously noshing on the local rodent population and has now been reunited with its owner... :)

This is wonderful news, just wonderful. Clearly she is a good hunter, and clearly there are more todents down there than you thought! Maybe you will need to install a "basement snake" permanently! Post some pictures of the prodigal daughter, OK?
