Don't pretend to know >< *corn related*

Hopefully this resolves the situation. You mentioned the salesman was a WOMAN and not a young girl. If the owner does fire her over your complaint, then I hope in this economy that she can find employment elsewhere. You never know when someone may be providing for a family.

dc

Even if I was providing for a family, if I gave a client misinformation about their pet's dietary needs, or handed over the wrong prescription, or gave them back the wrong cat... I would be fired, and rightly so. If someone is so worried about their finances and caring for their family, they should strive to do their job *well* and know everything they can.

Hmmm

Many Caramels look like Ambers, and many Normals look like Hypos.
As far as them loosing any, hell go snake hunting under my house I am sure you will find some and as many morphs as I lost..... theres probably some NEW MORPHS down there too! LOL
You cant tell a Caramel from a Amber as a adult in my opinion, unless you hatch them out yourself....:shrugs:

Stephen, you make me feel a little self-conscious and guilty. I hope I haven't disturbed you these last few nights bumping around in the crawlspace beneath you. I don't have the swimmer's physique that I once had.

I do believe he's seriously considering firing her...

If someone is caring for animals for a living, they should be held to a certain minimum standard, period. Guilt-tripping the OP over reporting her and paying the difference (thus giving the store OWNER the money he deserved and informing him of a problem that's costing him money) is just not nice.

Maybe it is just the way I read that last line but it seemed the OP was gloating a bit that they may have got the other person in trouble. Unfortunately the majority of people actually seem to like it when they have a a little bit of power over another person. Just my observation.

I also find it a bit ammusing that the OP walked out of the store without paying the for the snake they actually bought, but once they received several advises that they should, then then made amends. Again, just my observation.

Another observation, I am darned good at what I do for a living (Project Manger for a construction company), but the funny thing is that I didn't start my carreer knowing everything I know now AND I nearly learn something new everyday. Also, when I or one of my employees make a mistake, we are not immediately fired. I think I remember reading the OP stating the store had a guy who really knew thier stuff. If that is the case then this person sounds new. Maybe I am a little strange but I believe a little compassion is not that bad of a thing. I just tend not to argue with people unless they force me into that corner. Now if the employee continually provided wrong information, continued to allow animals to escape, continued to be rude, then maybe it is time to talk to the manager. Again, maybe I am just strange.

I don't think firing someone over a mistake is a good practice AT ALL, but the OP stated that this person lost a snake and then LIED about it.

I once lost an expensive gecko at a store I was working in. (darn slippery thing!!) I went straight to the phone and called my boss, apologized, and then did everything I could to find the lizard. It turned up the next day, minus its tail. >.< I didn't get in trouble because of how I handled it.

Had I said "Oh, I sold it" and then it was found out that I didn't, you BET I would have been fired. Why would any employer want to keep a liar, especially right now when so many HONEST people are looking for work?

Edit: making that call to my boss was SCARY. She was temperamental and intimidating...and frankly, I thought I was going to be in big trouble over the thing. But I did what I felt I had to.

OMg they had a lady at the snake shop that was helping out once.. Didnt know anything about reptiles but would still act like she did and give out wrong info.. Well needless to say, she dont work there anymore ;)

Because most employers are hurting for people to work to boot.. What till you move along further in this hobby.. *lol* Theres a lot of fishermen to be found.. Believe me, I am not suprised any more..

I am sure there are factors that we do not know, maybe the manager wasn't there at the time?
To me, it is attitude that is what should be considered.
One thing I can say, is that I like to know that I am getting the best product when I am purchasing something. Shouldn't it be this way? I have earned my money I and want to know that the person (contractor, pet store clerk, etc) is performing the job that they are paid to perform to the best possible standards they can, or at least TRY.
To spread the wealth to the sub-standard, or more specifically to those who don't try and feel they should still get what the best get... is socialism to the core, and it doesn't work.
Either this person needs an attitude adjustment or should be 'relocated'.

Exactly. I once caught a fish that was 5 lbs and 20", wait until next weeka nd it will be 25" and 10lbs right?

All right, let me rephrase then...why would the manager want to keep on staff a liar who is costing him money by selling snakes incorrectly when he has an applicant honest enough to come back and pay the difference back on a sweet deal they got?

That is the point, I am not sure the manager/owner WOULD keep an employee who had so openly lied about an escaped animal being sold. Either way, I think this horse is starting to gaps, we better let it up huh?
