I never talked down to anyone in this topic. I haven't treated her as a "lesser person". It simply hasn't happened in this topic or any other between the two of us.

I have insulted her sources, as they are not sources of accurate information. I have denounced her opinions because they are based on fallacies, not fact. She is welcome to have her own opinion. But when her "opinion" is nothing more than a composite of VERY wrong facts, she will be corrected. Please try not to forget the difference between fact and opinion. This topic is about facts...not opinion.

Her opinion is that marijuana should remain illegal. Fine. that is an opinion she is welcome too. Her assertion of wrongful facts to support that opinion is what I have chosen to argue against.

I also never slandered nor bad mouthed you. I asked you a simple question. Your first post in this topic was a directly antagonistic post, specifically directed towards me, by name. None of the posts you have made since than have contributed anything, either.

So I asked you the simple question...Do you have anything intelligent to contribute? I know you're intent in this topic is to antagonize me, but aside from that, do you have anything actually relevant to the topic to contribute? Anything at all? :shrugs:

Chris, I’m not going to play your silly game. I’ve followed this thread, you and Vicky have beat it to death. The two of you will not find common ground on this subject, there is nothing I could add that would change that.

Your comments to her are obviously derogatory and condescending. Your comments to me are obviously trying to bait me to respond.

All I was asking you was to try and discuss this in a mature manner without all the outrage and emotion.
 
Wade, you want a sensible statement. DuPont was one of the major reasons marijuana was made illegal.. They were afraid hemp, not the buds of the plant that is what we partake in, would put them out of business. They owned the drug czar. Money=power and they weren't about to give that up. Ignorance is bliss, so why don't you, Vicky, and Teddy(wasn't it pepper?) stay happy. I will stay in my house and smoke, laughing at your "bliss" of what could save this country millions. And prohibition of something just makes some people want it more. What young girl doesn't date the guy the parents say she isn't allowed to see?

I guess you can only debate until one or both parties decides to stop listening. It's obvious that you're not going to change your opinion, and I'm not going to change mine. I have learned a bit about marijuana during this time, so I guess I can say I've left with something good.

I don't think I'll carry on with this debate, even at the risk of my opponent feeling like he's "won".

And oh, by the way chuk_138, I LOVE POKEMON. I will play it whether you imply that it's childish or not.
 
Since you directed that at me I will respond and I'll even ignore all of your snottiness.

Could you provide me with any kind of evidence that the current drug laws were created to protect private industry? You have made a really big sounding statement but to say that this law was created to make DuPont happy is a pretty big accusation. Please provide us with some proof or documentation that might back up that statement.

Start HERE. While this is an essay of opinion, rather than a specific document, it does make several very neat referances and source citations, unlike the propoganda based links provided earlier, which make no citations or referances to actual studies performed.

Should you care to peruse further, you will find all kinds of links including some to the actual research documentation HERE.

Fair warning there is a TON of links on this page. You will have to do a lot of reading, and a lot of thinking for yourself, but I personally believe it is well worth the effort to get an education that isn't polluted by anti-marijuana propoganda. You can decide for yourself how worthwhile it is...

Here is the problem...there is nothing to win. The research and documentation to support every opinion that I have asserted in this topic already exists. The only way to "win" in this topic is for Vicky or Teddy to take the time to educate themselves with an open mind about the statistical facts, before they make their opinion.

I have no delusions that this will ever happen. So...what's to win? I don't have to "prove" anything because the research and science has already done a fantastic job of proving my points for me.

As long as Vicky and Teddy stop posting blatantly wrong information, I'll stop specifically addressing them. Easy as that.

Just a quick question or three. If marijuana is such a health risk because smoking the stuff “causes cancer” why is smoking tobacco legal because there is a warning on the box?
More people are killed through alcohol abuse, driving under the influence and alcohol related crimes than ill heath from smoking “weed/grass” or am I reading the incorrect newspapers?
A friend’s father suffers from lunge complications due to previous tobacco use so he uses medically supplied marijuana to assist him. He puts it on his food so I guess that will rule out cancer then.

The first essay is loaded with citations, links, and document numbers. Check them out. They are interesting. The second page is LOADED with hundreds of links to actual documentation, if you would only take the time to open your mind and click on a few.

You never signed on. You never viewed a single shred of evidence, you just came here to antagonise. You obviously didn;'t even take the time to briefly peruse the essay I linked to, lest you would have seen the citations, and possibly even checked one or two out for yourself.

But then again...I'm really not surprised.

Go buy the book if you want, I just gave you a link so you could read the book for free. Forget the name of link, use it to inform yourself. And Wiki isn't a credible source for anything. It can't even be referenced in college papers. But you probably haven't gotten that far in your education.
