SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

OMG, those are so cute! I absolutely love Cresties and now believe I MUST have a pair. My hubby is totally going to kill me. lol!

Oh noes! And I thought snakes were bad enough! ;) :D I can see myself with at least four of these little guys, though. They are so adorable. Congrats on your pickup.

Yes I can see them now! How adorable! Here's a question for you: I saw several cresties at an expo this past weekend. Some of them had tails, and some didn't. Were some of them broken off? If so, do they grow back like on other lizards?

Cresties have the ability to drop their tails like most other lizards but they don't grow theirs back. Some of the other Rhac species do, in fact I think maybe all the rest, not sure, but not the cresties. They call the ones without tails frogbutts.

Beautiful cresties! And they are addicting! We have 10 with 6 eggs incubating. As far as the tails go, in the wild most of them don't have tails. It is their way of getting away from predators. In captivity, they can drop their tails during breeding, during stress, during fights with cage mates or when handled aggressively. If you pull on their tails as they are trying to get away they will likely, but not always drop it. I even heard of a story on another forum where someone was vacuuming and the cresties dropped their tails....so far we have been lucky. We acquired 2 without tails but so far none have dropped them here...yet.
Here are a few pictures of our babies...who I might add started out as Mike agreeing to one and now he is the one picking them out!!!
This is Zadock...and he is Mike's

They can drop their tails pretty easily when they get stressed or if their tail gets pulled on. They don't grow back like some other geckos. Actually, most of the crested geckos in the wild don't have tails, so it is believed to be their "natural state". From what I hear, they get along fine without their tails, even though they are prehensile.

Frog butts! :laugh01::rofl::roflmao: That is ADORABLY hilarious. And totally fits. lol! They are SO cute. I MUST have some. *Stares at calender...only few more days until the expo....* :D
