UPS/Fedex Stories

Well, I'm bored so lets share some stories. Today, UPS is supposed to deliver a package for me. It left for delivery at 4:50am. The time is 4:13pm. I'm not too pleased with the situation...

Anyone else have some stories of delivery fail?

Here is mine from a while back:

http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79543&page=12

Well, I got my new little lady and she is somehow still alive after what she went through. The place where I purchased her told me after they had shipped her out that they had placed a requirement on the package that I be there to sign for it. I had told them prior that I work during the days and that I have a terrific front porch that is completely sheltered from weather and shaded from the sun all day long and that I track the package and then come right home once I know its there. Usually my lunch break. But they must have forgotten. Same with me as I always tell shippers not to require a signature. I have never had a problem until now due to the signature requirement. None of this would have happened had this not of been the case.

So I leave a note that morning on my way out for work, asking them (FedEx) to please leave the box by my front door and I signed the note as well. So later at work I am checking the tracking on it and I see an exception on the status saying no one was there to sign for package. I race home and find a note from Fed Ex that I have to be there to sign for it. I call customer service and they told me I would not be allowed to pick up the package at the hub either and that they would try again the next day. Pretty pissed at this point.

So all night I am praying for my little lady to be ok. Since I cant take time off work on such short notice I am forced to go to work in the morning and I leave another note with my cell number now too. This time I am beeeeegging the driver to leave the package or the animal inside would die. I go to work and clock in at 7:30am, and then I sneak home to wait for the driver at 9am hoping he comes within the same time frame as the day prior. Of course this does not happen. So I wait an hour and am finally am forced to leave and go back to work as I cant risk my job over this. I work about 30 minutes from home. Wouldnt you know as soon as I am pulling up to my work my cell phone rings. The driver calls me and tells me he is required to have a signature in person. I then plead and plead with him to leave the package or let me come meet him somewhere on his route. Finally he tells me that he will leave the package if I will call the main Fed Ex number and give positive feedback so he can be on better terms there. I agree to do this for him and he leaves the package. Thank God right!!! Wrong.

I leave work about 2 hours later to go get her and bring her inside to her new cage. Especially after being stuck in the box an extra night. When I get home I find that the driver, rather than leaving her at my front door in the shade, took her to my side yard and placed the box on top of my trash cans!!!!! There is no shade over there!!! The box clearly says all over it -PERISHABLE- DO NOT PLACE IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT!!! I cant even believe it when I see this. He had to go completely out of his way to take the box over there and go through my side yard gate. I grab the box and race inside. I open it up and my poor girl is coiled upside down with her mouth completely open in a gasping position. I flip her over and there is no movement. She feels dead. I uncoil her and still no movement, her mouth wont close and and there is no reaction to anything from her. Then as I am going to put her down, I feel some tiny tiny form of muscle resistance from her body...I thought it was probably just the usual death jerks you feel when they have just passed. But still having hope, I go put her in the cage I had ready for her so I could get back to work and deal with it later. I grab a small liquid syringe and put some water in it. I put several drops into her gaping wide open mouth and I see a slight movement from her tongue area!!! Then the front part of her body twitches to the left a tiny bit!!! OMG!!! I gave her several more drops of water and then placed her in her cage in a comfy position just in case maybe there was still hope!! I had to get back to work so I closed up her tub since there was not really a ton more I could do. It was up to her now if she wanted to fight for her life, or just let go. I figured she would be too weak to fight and wouldjust let go after the horror she endured. I left her by a shallow water dish just in case though. The last thing I did was pray to God to spare her little life.

About 3 hours later after work is done I head back home prepared for the worst. But I find something else!!!! I open the tub and find that she is fully revived and moving around in her tub slithering back and forth looking for a way to get out! She then looks up at me with what I swore was a little smile and then goes back to trying to escape like all happy healthy baby snakes do!! So dont nobody tell me God doesn't answer prayer!!! My girl who I thought was surely dead...is alive and squirming all over the place now :dancer:
It was like nothing had happened!! My little lady is a real life miracle!!! And because of that I decided to re-name her Nasya, which in Hebrew means just what she is...a miracle.

She is a tad under 3 feet now and is doing amazing thank goodness!

So they came 13 hours, exactly, after they left, while I had gone out to get supper, and even though it is just some background, and they can just dump crickets on my door, they leave a note saying I have to sign for it. WTF? Its just background, nothing important, and if it didn't take them all freaking day to show up I would have been here.

OOOOOO let me tell u my ups story, as some know here i have a lovely pair or brbs that i got this year, well these guys where sopose to b here the next morning after ship by the breeder(overnited) and i asked the breeder to make it sign upon delivery , well they got here on time but as im sitting im my living room, i hear a clunk and my door bell ring....by the time i got up and went to the door this guy was already reversing his truck!!!!! i ran out and was like buddy let me talk to u!!!:madeuce: and i asked him do u have any idea wat u just did?:realhot: he said no. I showed him wat was in the box and also informed him that he needed my signature before he left and just dumped my package at the door ....after witch he apologized for the way he treated the box.....but man if i had left the house for a minute my brb's would have been toast in the hot Florida sun!!! idk know if i could ever trust ups again.....:nope:

Ok, I got two stories.

First one, Corn snake is shipped FedEx next day by 10:30am delivery. Read policy only guarantied for business, homes are 7:30 and they make it by one minute. Time arrived 7:29.

Second happened today, the breeder would only ship to FedEx drop off center. I have never done that but it worked out great. Go into FedEx mail center and get the box and ask if it is ok to open and check on my little girl. Lady behind counter asks what girl and I let her the girl in the box so she asks what kind of girl we are talking about. I tell the lady that it was labeled on the box and maybe she should have read the box. I opened the box see my little girl is packed better than I have after seen in my life time and the lady behind the counter is still wondering what is in the box. I bet she starts reading boxes.

Love the Fatman

Well I won starsevol's non feeder auction and had some babies held for me at the local fedex. I picked them up after school at 3:30ish, and all I can say is sometimes shipping does a world of good for nonfeeders...half of them ate tonight!

Beth is going to be so happy!! Did you just give them plain old FT pinks??

I would never do anything other than Hold For Pick Up. FedEx.

I had mice shipped Tuesday overnight. FedEx accidentally sent them to Indianapolis. They arrived today. The Mouse Factory is happily replacing them.

Of course, if one of those baldy headed fires had eaten for me, he would have been soooooooo mine, but the important thing is that they are eating and will grow up to be beautiful!
I will be keeping a baldy headed bloodred from this bunch, and next year will be breeding the same parents together again (and adding another butter het bloodred girl to the mix too), and hopefully will produce a few GIRLS!! :)

I really hope you hadn't already called and given his positive feedback...in fact I really hope you called and gave him severely negative feedback!

No I definitely did not give him positive feedback and I made it known to them of where he left my package :realhot:
