My experience with Sugar Gliders is minimal, but my niece had one and I would not recommend them. The DO need lots of attention, being social animals... and if you're not going to spend LOTS of time with them, then you probably need a pair.
My niece... she got one, didn't play with it hardly ever, and then gave it up to a rescue. It was pretty sad.
I had a ferret too... you CAN buy a pet food that supposedly "decreases" the smell, but I didn't notice a difference. They are AWESOME pets!!! Chester was just awesome with me... but if I could do it again, I would get one that ISN'T albino. Chester was and his vision was pretty impaired (as I hear most albino species have impaired vision). He couldn't see a ball bounced at him and would have to "find me" by trial and error... listening for my voice or footsteps. He was fun and adorable, but yeah, I'd definitely go with a normal sable colored one or so. JUST REMEMBER the odor thing. That would definitely be something to consider.
