New kids on the block. Fire & Amber Blood with the Family

Just got in my two new girls. Thanks John, they're beautiful. Planning on breeding them both with Alcyon, my caramel pewter, in a couple of years. First is Iskierka, she's an '10 fire het charcoal/anery. I love her diffusion and the little white mask around her jawline. Next is Callisto, '09 amber blood het charcoal.

After them are a couple of pictures of the rest of the family. Third picture is Cetus, '09 hypo lavender het blood/stripe. Fourth is a comparison shot of Seif, '10 ghost, who was born in August but is already 2x (@28g) as big as Alcyon, '10 caramel pewter, who was born a week before him (@14g). Finally, the fourth pic is Merope, '10 hypo stripe. She might not be my brightest coloured snake now that I have Iskerka, but I love the stripe.

I completely agree! It's difficult enough to get 1 tongue shot, what are the chances of getting 2!! LOL.

Nice looking crew you've got there.

You're right about it being difficult to get a tongue shot... my sister had to take several photos of Ares to catch his tongue. When she finally got him, it was a full tongue shot and it caught his tongue in motion (see my avatar). Wow.

Thanks everyone! I got really lucky with the double tongue shot. I love my little ones and am really glad to share them with y'all.

Man, Alcyon has got quite the harem! We're going to have to keep a pretty comprehensive chart to make sure we don't get any genetically funky snakes...

I'm excited for 2012 when we can start on my Amber Pewter project with Andromeda (amber het diffused stripe). =) Photos to come as soon as she feels like being photogenic on top of her tree instead of mushed up against the glass at the bottom of her tank.

Yes, she has gorgeous contrast. She even has a tiny, one scale wide, stripe of black between the orange and the red. I'll post a closer picture of her when I get a chance.

Here's the detail photo of Merope's stripe. Pleione is on the top, Merope in the middle, and Izkierka on the bottom.

It's easy to overlook the first time, but indeed, Merope has a fine, fine black stripe above the wider red stripe!

LOL I meant the anery about the contrast, chose the wrong name

Ah! Whups. Yeah, Ben's having fun with his naming scheme. =) We'll see if Pleione keeps that contrast as she gets older!

Oh, and Pwny.Princess, Ben says that you can use a chopstick to "scoop" a hatchling out of the tree-cubby, both easily and safely. (He's driving while I post...)

Thanks for posting the responses Jamie. Yes, Pleione has a very stark black/white contrast with a bit of frosting on her saddles. Is that not normal for anery a? She's definitely gained in contrast since I've had her.
