Yay getting a sugar glider friday!

I don't either but I really don't think that insulting someone in the very first few posts will help.

I CAN indeed see where the problem is here, and in fact i personally agree with what some people are saying, however give the kid a break, if his sister has in fact done the research, and know's what she's getting into, and fully completely understands -- As nitelion said. what does it matter? He appears to only be involved for financial purposes and bonding with the cute little things, just leave it at that, and if not and things go terribly wrong, well he has noone but himself to blame.

Hi Nitelion,
First off, congratulations! Sugar gliders are wonderful pets so long as you can give them the time and attention they need. They're adorable, enchanting, very affectionate and if you get a male and a female the joeys are absolutely adorable. Here are a couple of pictures of my pair and the pair of joeys they had before I had the mate neutered. I highly recommend you have any males neutered, it really helps with the smell and in my experience they don't lose any of their energy or personality. I'm sure you and your sister have done extensive research but I want to make sure to warn you that they smell terrible if you don't clean the cage daily and can be very very loud. Its incredible the amount of noise that can come out of such a small creature when they bark and crab.
Also, a tip to help cut down on mess. Cut panes of plexiglass to attach to the outside of the bars of their cage. Sugar gliders tend to throw bits of food everywhere and if you do this it contains the mess inside of the cage without making the bards unusable for climbing. You'll have to take the plexiglass off about once a week to clean it, but its much much easier.
Keep them with you all of the time and they'll bond to you quickly. Feel free to ask if you have any questions and enjoy!

- Ben

Thank you for being helpful and ill be sure to tell her about the plexi thing

Gosh you people are really being mean....well at least David is, Hallie at least spoke like she was trying to give advice.

That's what I'm thinking. This is ridiculous and bordering trolling. If this was on a forum that I was admin/mod on David would have already had a good kick to the butt.

Buddy, you got a big mouth. I am not trolling, I am frustrated that this kid, blatantly rejects advice (as I did, way back when) and continues to try and get animals that more than likely will suffer due to negligence, he continues to not use his head. Now, is caring for the animals and being frustrated trolling?

Okay! If anyone who is not supportive can't offer anything besides insults, they need to just not say anything at all. I believe the reasons sugar gliders are such a huge PITA has already been covered in a previous thread. Obviously they are worthwhile pets to _some_ people, and if Nitelion and his sister, after being advised against getting one by nearly everyone here still plan to acquire one- then there's nothing you can say, that you haven't already said, to disuade them, so leave it alone.

Those pictures are adorable they made me go "d'awwwww!"

Personally I think he jumps to animal to animal to quickly it's about every other week we're hearing about something else he wants to get... I think you should also research the animals too with your sister. Don't you want to know anything about them so you can help as well, don't make her do all the work.

Hope it works out and that they're everything you guys want them to be, they're cuties!
Good luck!

Like I said: Okay! If anyone who is not supportive can't offer anything besides insults, they need to just not say anything at all.

I think that we should be allowed to criticize, nicely. I mean after all people here do it all the time, and its not always nicely!

I personally think that my statement wasn't rude either, I'm saying he should research them also, I'm sure they're interesting.
I know I would want to know more about them if I were to get one.
That way they're not only his sisters, their his too.
And if his sister thinks their too hard, then he could take over if he wanted.

There for 2 times the care and 2 times the chance that they'll have a great home.

You are, and you have. Telling someone "Oh well, maybe they will escape. It will be better for them anyway! " is not "nice," and you're lucky you didn't get an infraction for a post which is abusive towards other members...yet. Your posts _are_ being reported- this is not me searching you out and picking on you.

I understand they are being reported!I see lennycorn running to peoples visitor messages telling them to report me! Was any of the crap that I went through when I was like this kid reported? I bet 90% of it wasn't. So all I am saying is it seem to be a bit unfair.

No, you said "Personally I think he jumps to animal to animal to quickly it's about every other week we're hearing about something else he wants to get..." Who made you the arbiter on how often someone should inquire about an animal he is considering keeping?

And "I'm saying he should research them also, I'm sure they're interesting." He _did_ post a thread asking about sugar gliders previously. Do you need to go to his house and sit down with him and make sure he reads all the information that he has been provided?

Quit beating a dead horse!

Apparently, there are a lot of people on this forum that CAN tell people what they can and can't get or what they should or shouldn't get. But alas, they get away with it.

If I understand your question correctly, actually, I don't.

But I continually got people off your case, before I was a mod and afterward, when you compained about being picked on. I would think you'd have more empathy for someone who is now in a similar situation. But no- you're acting just like the people who used to tell you you were getting too many animals, too fast, not researching, etc. etc. etc.
