Many of you met Scout for the first time just a couple weeks ago. Well... it was decided by the powers that be (the WIFE) that Scout needed a companion too. Soooooo.... here is 8 week old Dallas! :)

Just let it be known that my wife picked the name and doesn't really follow football. BUT, being a Dallas fan, I didn't really argue either. :)

Introducing - Queensland Heeler/Australian Shepherd - DALLAS!

What a cutie!!! I"m sure they'll grow up to be best friends. Its a good thing y ou have Scout to help tire Dallas out, with that mix he's gonna be full of energy!!!...:)

Thanks to you both! We think we've got a great couple of "best friends".

The plan with both of them is to get them trained up and confident enough to go on hikes with us during the cooler months. Earlier this year, we were hiking and ran across a family with an awesome couple of dogs that were hiking with them. The dogs were just awesome and well behaved. We kind of looked at each other (my wife and I) and knew that we wanted the same thing one day. :) Now, we're on the path. Next is obedience training for Scout and "basic training" for Dallas. LOL.

Welcome to twice the training, poop scooping, vet bills, food bills and all that goes with it !! Also welcome to twice the loyalty and love, and 2 pack animals that won't ever be lonely! They can play together and wear each other out!
Good job, Fred! He looks like a keeper to me! (Cute as heck too!!)

Another great looking dog Fred!
Thank you, Sir!

Cute!!!! I have a heeler they are awesome dogs!!!!! Velcro dogs, so get ready to trip a lot.
Funny thing about the little guy... he has lots of velcro because all of the girls LOVE to hold him - ALL DAY LONG! LOL.

Yeah, we're suffering from the "setback" a little, but the payoff is surely gonna be awesome!

Congrats on yet another little cutie!:)
Twice the fun, twice the mischief.;)
LOL. My wife and kids are worried that Scout will eat/hurt Dallas. I think its the other way around. Dallas is one SOLID pup!

Interesting thing... one of our biggest worries was that they'd be big time BARKERS... but neither of them seems to even WANT to bark. :) Even Dallas needs to have a real good reason to make any noise.

When I was growing up, we had little dogs that barked all the picking time. I'm not used to this!! They certainly aren't good guard dogs! LOL.

Thats one thing I always loved about having larger dogs. They don't seem to bark unless its needed. The dogs I grew up with only barked when someone was at the door. Or they heard strange noises
I've always found little dogs bark for little or no reason.

I'm sure they'll bark when they need to. Dallas is such a cute puppy, just the kind I'd pick up. Those are good sturdy dogs for a dry desert climate. What I don't understand is how do you get a dog to bond to one person out of an entire family?

Awwwww, what a cute little bundle of puppy... I just wanna SQUEEZE him!!

And I agree with Snakemommy, the larger dogs don't generally yap as much as the little ones. My 40lb dog only barks occasionally, but he's an excellent watch dog... so don't worry about that. ;)

Oh, you never know, they just might make good Guard dogs once grown.
Guard dogs, as opposed to Watchdogs, do just that ... guard & protect... no bark is needed.;)

I love non-barkers ... or those that only bark if/when there is a reason to.:)
Those dogs, that constantly bark for no good reason, just drive me nuts.

Thanks for the info on "barkers" everyone! I'm hoping that they grow to be the ones that bark only when needed. Scout seems reticent to bark even when excitedly pulling on the leash to get some rabbits or quail.

It has been almost a month since we added Dallas to our family. He's grown so much in that month!!! LOL. Well, the pics should speak for themselves. I borrowed my brother's "nice" camera to try to take good pics, BUT, of course, when I got back home they were both sleeping. Go figure!!! I'll try to take more later today...
