TheFrogman

Im just old
I know, I know, this is a Corn Snake Forum and Pippi is not a Corn, well Im sorry but I want to introduce my 7 1/2 month old female Albino Rosy Boa named Pippi.

I was able to successfully sex her today thanks to Nanci and pictures on the internet.

Thanks Cat, I know nothing about this species at all, but Nanci seems to think its an Amel, but your right, its does resemble a corn.

Very cute! Like the name! I love Rosy boas, they are great snakes. Definitely an Amel.

Awesome, thanks Nanci, I want to get something for sure. The book "Rosy Boas: Patterns in Time" looks awesome.

Wow her coloration makes her pretty. I'm not generally a fan of lighter snakes, but she carries that yellow-orange really well.

This is the forum I like. It's nothing like CS, but the people seem okay.

I actually was talking about a breeding loan of my anery Pioneertown female to a guy out in CA, but before the details were ironed out, a member here, Betsy Westphal, vanished with a bunch of CS members snakes, never to be heard from again. It made everyone leery of sending snakes to strangers ever again. We found out years later that she reportedly neglected them all until they were all dead. Or so the story goes...

Thanks my friend, she really is this brightly colored, the flash sometimes makes her washed out. Shes has a real sweet disposition also.

Thanks for the link Nanci, and that is so terrible with the person that vanished, OMG that's so awful.

EDIT; Nanci, that forum has a strange format (layout)

Yeah, the layout is kind of like kingnsnake.com. I can't even do that forum, I hate the layout so much.

Good Morning and Merry Christmas everyone, anyone know anything about Rosies? I know Nanci does and I hope to hear from her.

As I'm a new "Boa" owner I have a couple questions about my new Rosy Boa "Pippi"

I cant believe how gentle she is, she never sleeps, I mean never. I have her in my bedroom and she's go, go, go all night and all day, in fact she's up now.

Common for a Rosy?

Also, she does NOT coil at all, I just assumed that because shes a Boa that she would coil, never. I know they love to squeeze in tight crevices but no coiling even when held.

Is this common for a Rosy?

OMG, I put an old knit cap in Pippi's enclosure today and she loves it.

I leave the screen off on purpose when I want her to come out, I'm always watching very carefully when I do it.

My rosy doesn't coil, ever, really. Well, except when she strikes. She's active more during the day than the night.

I changed Pippi's substrate to Aspen, she's burrowed in ever since but I saw this tonight and thought it was cute and worth the pictures. (2 Pictures)

Pippi loves coming out, I swear she wags her tail like a dog when I open her enclosure.

She's almost at 25 grams already

the tail 'wagging' is no greeting, but like rattle-snakes, a warning, a feeling of being treatened..
