North Carolina. I've never wormed my dogs as adults, but more to the topic, certainly wouldn't recommend routine worming of captive bred snakes.

do you give your dogs heartworm preventative? Most of those contain a broad spectrem dewormer as well.

Florida is subtropical and thats what the veterenarians reccomend. Like I said it was a herp specialty vet in ocala who reccomended the yearly deworming. I saw the one who works for silver springs I believe.

I am sorry you feel that way. I don't think discussing veterinary reccomended treatments is bickering. I consider it evidence based practice and legitimate discussion. you personally are a hobbyist and yes I enjoy speaking with hobbyist to see what they do but I do not blindly follow people without empirical evidence.

I've never treated any of my corns (or any reptile for that matter) for something they didn't have. IMO I don't really think you can compare the care of dogs and cats to those of reptiles.
 
I don't treat any of my reptiles for parasites unless there is indication they might have them.
I do not give my animals any more than is necessary.

Treating/preventing HW is a bit different, because it is more prevalent in most areas.
I do not give my dogs HW medicine though, because it does not survive here in western WA.

FWIW, Chip is more than what I would consider a typical hobbiest, and he does have a lot of very good information.
 
I would understand in WA where heartworm isn't as much of a threat. Also I was never arguing I was only asking questions. I have never wormed any of my reptiles either but was only mentioning because many animals are routinely wormed.

Here in FL there are parasites galore so thats why I was concerned only at the possibility. We've had the snake for like 8 months with no eating or health issues it was just a thought and I was only presenting facts I had considered but like I said I never did worm the snake.

Also I wasn't trying to discredited anyone or insult anyone I have no idea how that was even obtained. Re-reading my posts I merely see simple inquiry and presentation of information.

FWIW I am a Registered Nurse and so I do have medical knowledge. I really don't like being talked down to and I try not to do it to others either.
