Oh, Craigslist...

I know... I just wish people did their research.. I just saw an ad that said "Selling our baby corn snake, we don't have time for her because we have other pets that require our attention... Willing to trade snake for various other reptiles."

............ LIES.

I always love the ones that explain that the must get rid of their snake as "they don't have the time and attention it deserves" seriously? They aren't dogs or even cats for that matter and don't need more than 10 to 30 minutes of "care" and "attention" every few days if properly set up to live out their lives quite happily. They have to be one of the least demanding pets out there, including most other reptiles. Although, if you can't spare it a combined hour of attention a week and never bothered to learn how to care for it properly to begin with, perhaps it's a good idea to rehome it, hopefully to someone a touch be interested in the poor thing.

Last one I read is NSW and makes me wonder where this world is heading... (no I am no longer in the pets section)

I browse the 'other pets' section of kijiji when bored. There was a dude selling a boa the other day and the associated picture was said boa crawling all over a naked lady during a photo shoot.

Jax's tank (about a 20 long) that came with him when I bought him was just a lamp (white 150V spot), a snake cave, a branch, and some aspen sprinkled over paper towels. The lid of the tank was wood and didn't even latch. From what I've heard the owner previous to her didn't even have a hide in his tank.

Needless to say some changes were made the day I bought him. Mainly a UTH.

It's not a snake... but this is just appalling.

I still can't close my mouth, my jaw is on the floor. People selling stuff really should try to "fancy it up" anyway, but THIS??? Does the beer bottle and frisbee come with it? And no price? And that is just my amazement of the ad itself, I am still coming to terms with there actually being live animals involved!

Wow. Just, wow.

^^^^^^^^^^^THIS is why I do what I do!!!

Nope! Some kind of pine/bull/gopher snake? I'm not good with that branch of the snake family and can generally just identify the general "type" of snakes that look similar to the one in the ad.

I thought it was at first but the head isn't right. I'd say a bullsnake.......definitely not a cornsnake and REALLY not a ghost corn!

I REALLY wish I had taken a picture of the kijiji thread I found recently.

He advertised it as "Super rare lime green corn snake! $200."
When I asked, he sent me a picture of an amel corn snake. He explained that the snake is 1 year old, but that as he grows he will become a lime green colour.

I guess the pet store around here (Riverfront Aquariums) had told him this upon purchase. I had already boycotted them due to their disgustingly maintained store. I educated this guy a little, and he took the ad down.
