I have acquired several hatchlings from Walter that have either only eaten their first meal (and refused all future meals) or have never eaten. Thought I'd post a few pics and update if I have any luck. So far I've never met a nonfeeder that wouldn't eat for me eventually, so I'm hopeful! A few of these will be up for sale if I get them well-established.

Sorry for the ugly pics, my new snake room is in the basement, and I didn't want to disturb them. All but the buttermint arrived today, so they've had a rough day.

Speaking of the buttermint, it feels right to start off with a success story. I acquired her a few weeks ago and she would not fall for any of the usual tricks, so I started feeding her tails to keep her going. She is extremely gentle so would not tease feed. Last week she finally took washed and anole-scented! Yesterday she took unwashed and very lightly anole-scented after refusing unscented. I'm very excited to have a female buttermint!

Current status 8/09: finally eating unscented f/t pinks!


Today I received the following:

Diffused saffron male 50% ph cinder (only took first offering)
Current status 8/17: eating unaltered f/t mice!


Saffron stripe male!
Current status 8/09: slamming anole-scented pinkies.


Ultramel lavender tessera male 66% ph anery motley (has not fed)
Current status 8/17: eating unaltered f/t pinks!


Pied-sided bloodred male het anery 50% ph hypo lavender (had not fed)
Current status 8/17: eats pinky mice with piece of anole skin stuck to head. Argh!


Caramel cinder male 66% ph amel hypo motley (has not fed). I'm very excited to see how the color turns out, based on the only adult caramel cinder I've ever seen.
Current status 8/09: eating lightly anole scented in covered deli cup.


Diffused Miami male 66% ph motley 50% ph amel (only took first offering)
Current status 8/09: eating regular f/t pinks with no fuss as long as they are left in his tub and he is not disturbed.


Another saffron stripe male! (Has not fed).
Current status 8/17: I've tried every trick in the book, and am keeping this one alive on tails.


The only female from today's group, a saffron 66% ph diffused 50% ph cinder. (Only took first offering)
Current status 8/09: This girl would strike her pinky but would never try to eat. She refused live and anole-scented and everything else in the book. I kept her going on tails but unfortunately she did not make it. This is the first time I couldn't get a nonfeeder to eat, and I am surprised she died this soon considering she was eating tails.

Thanks! I am so happy one of the saffron stripes ate for me, as I have really wanted one to pair eventually with my sunkissed tessera het caramel. Hopefully the other one eats as well, so I can sell one of them (and because I want them to live!).
 
I have a live anole and a frozen anole I acquired. For a live anole, you can have it bite the pinky and get a little saliva on it. If you are lucky enough to grab a shed before the anole eats it, you can moisten it and place on the pinky head. You can also provoke it into dropping its tail (which will regenerate). A little blood from the dropped tail will do. With frozen, I thaw and rub the pinky on the lizard, or decapitate and use blood. I also have peeled off skin from the frozen to stick to the pinky.
 
I have heard of people having success with leopard geckos, by just rubbing a thawed pinky on them.

He is GORGEOUS.
If it was a female I would throw my money at you lol I'm glad there are people like you to take care of these guys and get them eating. It's great! They're all beautiful.

Walter has a low and medium pied-sided female on his site, as well as female pied-sided granites, if you are looking for one.

I have two boys, and I wanted my third snake to be a girl- I've been torn between pied-sided and ERO.... I have at least narrowed it down to two lol but I'm deeply in love with both. Thank you for letting me know!
 
Sounds like you're off to an excellent start with them! I think sometimes it helps to just have someone who is not "fed up with" getting them to eat. It can be very mentally exhausting.
 
Yeah, it is pretty nerve-wracking, even with just these 9. But only 5 more to go, assuming the others continue to eat. I am hoping to get the saffron female to tease feed, since she struck at me, and took her first meal with Walter.
 
I can't believe my luck! The ultramel lavender tessera took his first meal today, and the diffused saffron male took his as well! Both were washed pinkies with anole scent.

Now all I have left is the second saffron stripe, female saffron, and caramel cinder!!!

Caramel cinder just ate! Deprived him of water for two days, dunked the head of an anole-scented pinky in water. Maybe he would have just taken anole-scented, I'll see next time! Just the second saffron stripe and female saffron left.
 
So far the diffused miami and ultramel lavender tessera are eating unaltered frozen thawed. Some of the previous eaters refused even anole-scented this round, but many of them just shed and will hopefully feed next time. The saffron female and one of the saffron stripes are the only two who have not eaten, and they aren't looking so good. I think they are dehydrated and not drinking water. I'll try to get some dripping wet tails in them and give them a damp hide.
