Just wondering .. how can I locate a reputable breeder to purchase a corn .. can specific company names be mentioned on the forum? I have scanned several on the web and then checked for reviews .. the reviews seem to be similar and not much help .. thanks

I went on FB and sent out some messages to breeders. I couldn't find any local corn snake in KC, either. It turned out a ball python breeder knew a guy, or a company. I told him what I wanted, and I got a really cool snake. It was hassle free.

There are a few big internet companies out there, also. Bhb, big apple, underground. I have also heard about the amazing individual breeders who do that for a living. Scan the board of inquiry and start making contacts.

I would check out the classifieds both on this website and over on faunaclassifieds.com and then review any potential sellers on the BOI (board of inquiry, which is also on faunaclassifieds.com). If a seller doesn't have any reviews, you can post an inquiry on the BOI to see if anyone has done business with them.

There's nothing against the rules about mentioning breeders' names here, but if you have any complaints or positive reviews, they are best posted on the BOI since cornsnakes.com isn't meant to be a review site.

This^^

Also, is there something you are looking for specifically? That might help narrow down who to recommend.

There isn't a rule about positive reviews for good experiences with breeders, here. Rich just doesn't want dispute-type discussions held anywhere except the Board of Inquiry. If you don't know what BOI is, or why you should know, there is a sticky at the top of the For Sale section that you should familiarize yourself with.

I myself would be leery of purchasing a snake from a huge Internet company, unless you can pick it out in person. I've heard a few, not a lot, but enough, stories of animals dying, and there not being any support/customer service/replacement to fall back on.

Thanks for all the help .. I saw a baby corn at one of the major pet chains the other day .. it showed the warning signs I have read about .. listless, no flicking of the tongue .. so I decided to purchase from a breeder .. today I was at the other major pet chain and they had one that was constantly checking out his viv and flicking his tongue; no bulges, etc. looked healthy. still think I will try a breeder .. originally wanted a baby 'classic' but now I am leaning towards one of the charcoal types.

If it helps any, I'm in Pulaski, TN about an hour south of Nashville, and have a ton of well started hatchlings and ones I'll be making available soon...

Hatchlings

Thanks for the heads up .. Pulaski is no drive at all .. will you be posting them on the classifieds here?

I will be soon. I'm just trying to sort through several hundred hatchlings right now, and get many started.
