Palmetto demand?

Hi! Newbie here. Looking to work on a new project and considering palmettos. How is the overall demand and how long do you think before they are like $100? :)

Probably never ;)

Yea, agreed on that! Haha your best bet might be two het palmettos at about $2000 a piece, price may lower to about $1500 in about 5-10 years. Homo Palmettos will probably stay about the same price range. Once I can afford them, you bet I will have breeding projects and palmetto babies!

I believe Don was selling het Palmetto hatchings (females only) last year for $2,000. I'm not aware of anyone selling het Palmetto males at this time.

That's in Europe. Unless you know of a shipment already headed this way, where they can tag along for a smaller fee, the shipping cost would be cost prohibitive.

This guy will sell het palmettos in the future :) most likely at the same market price though.

There's a handful of people that will have hets in the future, when the females Don sold the visual females a few years back.

If you can get your hands on them, and the investment is worth it to you, the value will stay relatively steady for a little while, unlike the Tessera.

If financial issues don't arise and Murphy doesn't screw me over, I may have a few palmetto hets (with some fun surprises!) next year, though I will be holding back most of my F1 females. I don't plan to offer a lower price than Travis W., and I won't be selling pairs until I hit my target. I'm even tempted to send extra male hets to our PetSmart orders to protect the project. :) I'm not really in it for profit, and eventually I'll break even with visuals.

I would like to have one just to look at it. I don't think people are spending money on corn morphs right now. Used to be any new morph was $2000. Not any more :-(

I'd love to have one, and maybe one of these days I will.
I'd love to see what a Palmetto Tessera looks like! :)

Me too! They're just a couple years off if Chip gets lucky with his next clutch. I have a couple interesting combos in mind, though it will be a while before I have visuals.

Red Factor Palmettos would be fun to work with as well, I think.
Let me know if you need any help with some of those projects. ;)

I guess I must have missed that period of time. It used to be a tough sell at even a shade over $300 a head when I was selling new stuff.

The most I ever sold any of my babies at was in the $400 & $500 range, but they were definitely not Palmettos. LOL

It seems that the "different" ones are good sellers, and I think the Palmetto will be sought after for a while.
There are so many projects that they can be plugged into. I think people will want to see how they turn out in various projects.

It is fun working with a new morph. :)

I was considering that, but I'm more interested in another combo at the moment. It's definitely something I'd like to see.

I've been hoping to convince John Mack to let me use space at work for my project, but I've yet to get an answer. If someone here had extra space, it'd be interesting to see if some kind of co-op deal could be worked out. ;)

I know there is a handful of people here on the forum that have them, I cannot remember how many exactly. Don sold a limited number of visual females.

Mystic, I love that your avatar/profile pic is your little oddball on the water bowl. Makes me giggle every time.

In my far away win the lottery kind of dreams, I think about being a proud owner of a palmetto. There are so many possibilities when it comes to breeding that it just boggles my mind.

(palmetto x anery = salt n pepper snakes?) Saddly, my husband would call me crazy and never let me get into something as intensive as breeding. So I will just have to live vicariously through the forums.
Unless I win the lottery.

I believe anery palmettos do already exist.

Here's a few pictures from Don Soderberg of anery palmettos:
