Progression Thread: November the Orchid

Dragonling

Doesn't do "casual"
So a few of you know I've teamed up with Heather at Mystic Exotics for a couple of fun breeding projects over the next several years. :) The boyfriend won't let me bring any more snakes home just yet. Having an experienced breeder with an excellent reputation doing the work will help ensure the babies will be well cared for and hopefully find new homes that much easier. I hope to eventually have a reptile room and be able to breed on my own down the road, but that likely won't happen til we have a house.

Anyhoo! At least one of those projects involves one of my favorite morphs, orchid! I bought this beautiful little cb15 orchid het amel stripe ph caramel from Steve Roylance and had her shipped to Heather. I have some seriously big plans for this little girl and her incredible set of genes.

I named her November, following the boyfriend's NATO phonetic alphabetical pet-naming convention, Nova for short. This ended up being rather appropriate, since her warm tan coloration reminds me of autumn. :) She has a cute little ghost face on her head, perfect for Halloween! She's currently 7g, unsure of length at the moment.

Heather and I may go back and forth posting updates, or I may do most of the updating as she sends me photos, etc.

Her little ghost face is too cute. She's already for Halloween.

Just be careful where you buy a house. Make sure there are no restrictions. Sometimes I think these little towns pass crazy restrictions so they have something to do!

P.S. I hope the boyfriend is otherwise worth it. ;)

Thanks, guys! If she didn't have such a strong sunkissed pattern I'd swear she was only lavender. I'm really excited about her genetic potential and have a few pairings in mind. Heather has a few really great males, though I'm not ready to share specifics just yet. ;) I will say though, red factor may well be in her future after seeing the results of ACMEcorns' RF orchid project. We'll see how a different RF line compares. Eventually, anyway. :D

If the mating is productive, I may be producing red factor orchids this year. The female was sold to me as a sunkissed het lavender possible red factor, and she really is the most stunning sunkissed I have seen in person, and her belly and saddles are very red. Very excited about this possibility!

Awesome! With you being fairly local, perhaps we can collaborate in the future? It would be nice to get more hands on experience.

She is part of one of a few fun projects we will be working on. :)
I am looking forward to all of our future projects!

Dustin would be a great one to go in on a few projects with!

Nova is starting to go into shed (for real this time). LOL

I noticed Heather uploaded some new photos on iHerp so I had to share! I so hope she keeps that pinkish cast through adulthood. :)

Pretty lady is already starting to grey out. She's going to be a looker!

Another stunning snake! One is more beautiful than then next. I love her deep wine pupils, too She's just amazing.

Overdid the flash a bit at first while we were taking photos yesterday. Unfortunately Nova and Ellie went first, so they got a little washed out. Still this one came out pretty nice.

Nova is finally starting to put on some weight, sitting at 47g at just over a year old. Tango is only a couple months older and absolutely dwarfs her, and even my largest 2016 baby is 55g. She is incredibly tolerant of handling, so I have high hopes that she'll be one of my sweetest girls.

Much as I wish she were normal sized for a yearling, I'm pretty thrilled with her color development. She's going to be a fantastic adult.
