I Need Help... SRSLY!

What kind of help? Some kind of twelve step that doesn't involve the purchase of another new snake.
Yeah right!! Like you're going to find that kind of help here. Interesting that you distracted everybody with pics of such a gorgeous snake (You won't believe how they change as they mature! I was totally shocked with mine!). Guess you really don't want the help you asked for . . . You've really gotta want to stop first . . . and it's clear you're not to that point yet! :sidestep:

Come on Jenn, say it with me, "We admitted we were powerless over cornsnake acquistions and that our lives had become unmanageable".

Beautiful borders and eyes you got there. I ended up having to pick one up this year myself.

Why does this feel like a hang over? Owwwie my heads hurts.. I should add, Lava was one gene I figure we needed to introduce at some point, and likely a nice boost to some possible future breeding plans..

That's been my focus, too, to get all the genes into my collection so I can pick and choose what to breed each year.

Problem is there only two possible genetics we are missing.. Cinder and Christmas now.. Of course now I am really going to look at seriously clearing out some animals, and decide who is not going to make the cut.. There might be some nice young adults coming up for sale in the near future, because we justy can't possibly keep them all..

Regards.. Tim of T and J

I WILL HELP!

I'll help you out. Just send that thing to me. You don't need to feed your addiction anymore. I'm glad you have admitted your addiction. Now it' time to do something about it. Shot me a PM and get rid of that thing! lol

Beautiful addition Jenn! I'm really falling in love with their look! But I'm afraid I can't help you with your addiction as I, too, have failed to prevent myself from making another corn snake purchase. But think of it this way...you're not suffering from this affliction alone!

Um... not only am I an addict, but I am overly possessive... I've been accused of being selfish too. Just ask Tim who owns all the snakes in the house. I DO. Well, except for that ugly blood boy... he's allowed to claim that one.

So um... I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass on your offer to help me moderate my addiction! :laugh01:

I actually don't think of it as suffering anyway... I mean heck, I enjoy every one of our critters - even the ones I hadn't planned on getting. lol... It's more an issue of space (or lack there of) becoming a problem.

And it's always good to know I'm not alone when it comes to the "gotta catch them all" aspect of corn keeping! lol

I think it's amazing you have space for all your animals and time to care for them. If I had as much space and time I'd go just as crazy as you!

I think Lily is a cute name, too!
I'm actually lucky in some ways. My full time job is taking care of all the critters in the house. I don't work (haven't for nearly five years unfortunately) but taking care of the snakes and schooling the girls makes it worth while.

Space on the other hand... we never have enough. What we really need is a rack or two and then we'll have room for everyone. Plus room for more! lol...

Jessica, I was just re-reading this thread and you made me laugh (in a good way). My kids think I seriously have a major problem with snakes, mice and rats. I'm sure they would check me in if they could. While like Jenn these animals are my job, ROOM, no way we have two snakes, foour colonies of mice and two colonies of rats in our bedroom. Ten snakes, two coloinies of rats and 1.2 hamsters in our living room. We live in a really small house, room is what I wish I had lots more of. susang

Only two snakes in the bedroom? You are slacking Susan! We have... um... *runs to count* Ok, 36 in the bedroom (there'll be more once the older snakes go down for brumation.), 13 in the living room (spread out) in quarantine, and the rest stuffed into the hallway closet. lol...

The mice and rats? we have ten mouse colonies and 4 rat colonies tucked into the dinning room nitch that was turned into our computer corner. lol...

We really NEED more room...

It is sort of how I would have visioned your house, yes I am a slacker. Now just have to convince hubby how I really need more and if I could just get a few more that would be it.:shrugs: I would never ask again, really.

Sure, you say that now... but what happens the moment you see another good looking snake you just have to have!?!?

Jenn did you change your signature? To read how many you have? You know this won't help your addiction, you'll now be able to see what you have & what you need to add!
Oh & don't feel bad girl 'I srsly need help too!!' Hehe...:dancer:

Congratulations on your new lava Jenn, its beautiful! I think you should post a few pics of your snake rooms up!! :)

Nah, I've always had the count there... I only update it to reflect any changes. It actually does help me in a way because when I see the numbers, I know how many I have and I know that I need to seriously think about adding another to the collection. Of course, most of the times, when it's time to lay the money down. I'm not sitting in front of the computer where I can actually see the counts. No wonder it hasn't helped much! lmao...

Thanks for the compliments on the new girl! Er.. snake rooms? Nah, more like snake piles and ghetto closet... I'm embarrassed about the total lack of organization we keep our tupperwares in. Well, the closet isn't really all that bad, but the rest is. That's why I really need a new rack for the critters. (Psst... That's a hint Tim, dear, in case you didn't catch it the first time.) lol...

I have seriously toned down my own personal zoo actaully. When I first moved out of my parent's house I went crazy with (snakes of course), mice, rats, rabbits, cats, and then a foster dog. That sure was one stinky apartment! The rats and mice have long been fed off, I opted for buying f/t. Unfortunately my rabbit finally died of old age D: RIP Steak! The foster dog found his forever home  , and I only have one cat now, two others were my roommate's.

So, one cat and a bunch of snakes is pretty "mellow" for me.

Jenn, I was thinking that "Lily" is really a comparatively good name to some of the other L names that popped in my head. Tell Tim to love "Lilly", because his his pretty little lily could be called "Looney Lovegood" the lava. :grin01:

Well, technically we have toned down the entire collection... we no longer have as many fish... lol I can't see us getting rid of any of the other critters though. Of course, that could change down the line.

As for naming the snake Loony Lovegood? Nah, wouldn't have actually crossed my mind this time around. We're going with a botanical theme, following on the heels of a geological theme so we're sticking with flights of pure science not pure fantasy. So, technically, Lily's named after a flower, not a character in a book. :crazy02:

Another vote for pics of the snake room (s)!
:nope: It's really nothing special... Just embarrassing, really... But to avoid more demands... here's an old picture of the ghetto closet:
rack2.jpg

The only real difference right now is that the middle shelf is partially filled with deli cups of hatchlings. And the bottom two rows of tupperwares from the bottom shelf got cut off in that picture. That only covers about 1/2 maybe 3/5 of the snakes now though.
