My poor new baby is Stuck at the fedex station overnight tonight. He was supposed to be delivered to me before noon today. That is him in the photo...
When I first called at 3 pm and asked what was going on, they told me he was held up due to a weather problem. When I asked where he was, the told me Richmond, only 2 hours away! There was NO weather problem.
Then I was told he missed the truck, but would be on the way, just late.
Then I called back at 6 and he was not going to make it today.
I explained it was a very valuble live snake and that I didn't want him left in a cold warehouse overnight and since they would not let me go get him *I asked* then what were they going to do about it. I was "told" he would be brought inside since they knew it was alive, but well...I just don't quite believe them. Well anyway here is hoping.
He has 2 40hour heat packs...And is supposed to be here ASAP tomarrow morning.
:angry01:
:uhoh:
:angry01:
Anyway as I fret all night, please tell me your horror Fedex stories and hopefully their happy endings too.

Geez...Well, when he gets there tomorrow, remember, if he's very torpid and appears (dead) let him warm up before doing anything drastic! Shoot, now I'm going to be worried until tomorrow...

Awwww. Poor thing.

Only Fed ex horror story I have is, they dont ring my bell, so when Im expecting a snake, I basically hang out at my kitchen window to catch them arriving. He pulls up, and just as I open my front door, he chucks the box with my ghost inside, from the landing, up the stairs, unfortunately, the guy was the furthest thing from Troy Aikman because it bouces off the top stair and rolls back down to his feet. All with a BUMP BUMP BUMP BUMP.

I cant tell you what happened after I flew out my front door like a crazy woman because this is what you call a "family friendly" forum but after I and the snake calmed down I phoned Fed Ex and ripped into them some more.

Hope your little guy is alright. With 40 hours Im sure he will be. Lets us know when he arrives.

The most expensive snake I ever bought arrived, via Fed Ex, unannounced, and sat in my driveway the entire day while I was at work, 20 feet from a major busy road! Where my big garbage can gets blown over and hit by cars all the time! She was ok.

Well my story has a happy ending. :dancer: I ordered 33 babies from PJ&J. They shipped them out on a Tuesday, I think, cant remember the exact day. Well come the next day we waited and waited and...5 pm no snakes. I called out to PJ. We were both in a worry mode. She checked the tracking number and they hed checked in to Memphis TN at 5:30 that morning and never left. Thats 4 hours from here! FAA had closed the airline down that day and the snakes werent moving any where. I called FedEx and asked them where it was going to go from there. They told me that when it started moving again it was going to go to a place in Indiana which is only an hour from me. I asked them to please stop the package at that location for me to pick it up. They did! It got to that location at 7:30 the next morning. Good think I picked it up or it would have not gotten here until at least 5 that night. You have to understand that where I live we never get a FedEx truck here until at least 5pm. So my little babies shipped out at around 6pm one night and didnt get to me until almost 40 hours later in very cold weather. We opened the box in the van just to check and they were a little chilly but all were fine. Thank goodness PJ packs the boxes the way she does or some would have been lost for sure! Matter of fact one shed on the drive home. LOL

Good grief..hit the dang button before I was done. I wanted to say I wish you the best and hope your snake arrives safe and well. :)

Ouch, I hope everything goes well for you. I know Fed-Ex can be a pain in the :spinner: sometimes. I live in a small town in Virginia that Fed-Ex refuses to recognize as an actual town no matter how many packages get successfully delivered at, so I have to resassure anyone I order packages from that it IS a real place, and even then sometimes packages are sent back to the sender. Also, it makes it impossible (literally) to get a guarantee on delivery. :headbang:

I feel ya. I am in a onehorse kinda town myself. And thanks!

Glad to hear Im not the only one from Small Town, USA on here! FedEx tells us the guarntee isn't 5pm like most cities but 7:30pm. Guess thats how it goes when the population is about 1,000 and the next town is 25 miles towards no where. LOL

Haha, I live somewhere like that too!

Our fedex problems have mostly come from them delivering things entirely to the wrong place. We live on a pretty long street that has both an "east" part and a "west" part.... we live on the west, and for some reason for the longest time they could not figure out to just go down the street a little ways to find us!! :angry01:. They would always be dropping things off at 345 instead of our place, 335... we had one heck of a time trying to get our dishwasher fixed when they sent like 3 replacement parts to the wrong place without our knowing.

They're also notorious for late shipping in our area.... UPS however is top notch at getting things to us on time.

Although, when I ordered my cornsnake a few months ago she came Fedex and arrived without a hitch. Who knows, maybe the delivery guy had finally figured it out by then.

He's here! He's here! Safe and sound! Poor little puntikins..A wee bit chilly but not too bad. He is warming up fast now though. Very active and happy go lucky with the most amazing green eyes. I took a picture as I lifted him from the tupperware and into the viv. Then a few shots of him deciding if he likes the place. Let's hope so.
Thanks so much everyone for your support and well wishes. Now everyone bask in his spidery glory!

I'm glad he arrived safe and sound..I to am a strong disliker of fedex..I never really had a problem with them until recently...I was expecting a 20g long tank in the mail along with some other supplies..when the package finally arrived all the supplies were just fine and in good shape...the tank however..was broken to pieces on several sides...I mean...it looks like the fedex guys were playing hockey or something with the package..I just don't see how something like that could break into so many pieces..It pissed me off so much but before I could catch the guy he had left already..so now my poor uromastyx is waiting for the second 20g tank to be sent to me..this time using UPS...hopefully this one will get here in one piece..
