Cloverfield!!!

Oooookay!

So, I really rather liked the film. Yes, it's Blair Witch meets Godzilla....or Godzilla if it was actually scary...lol. But, I am a fan of Blair Witch as well. Someone addressed questions not being answered. I personally think that helps the film more. The film is presented as "evidence"... as a tape that was recovered. If it were truly something taped in the first person like that, it wouldn't have all the answers. Yes, a few things here and there felt a touch forced, but overall, I felt it was a far more believable piece by not offering all the answers. And really, it was just plain old fun! :) (I thought).

Nanci- As for fx... all I've got for you is that my buddy Andy worked at the shop that created some of the minor appliances. I remember him telling me that all he knew about the movie was what the bite wound looked like, because he was running the foam for the appliance. LOL.

And I LOVED LOVED LOVED No Country for Old Men. LOVED IT! Planet Terror was fun, but I'm a Death Proof kinda girl myself. Hehehe....

The bite wound was very good. I actually don't know how I'd describe the monster to Waldo. Maybe sort of resembling something Jenn Rose saw on her trip down south??

Maize411- If there were answers, they'd have to be plausible! This way, we can make up what we want, or just not care- just see that day in time. When you read about it, they just say "Something found us." It apparently came up out of the ocean. You _know_ in horror films, monster movies, the people always go back. If they were smart and escaped, there wouldn't be anything to have the movie about! This also bothered my ex, though, apparently to the point that he'd rather take a nap than watch the "stupid" people continually make the worst decision. I think they were sort of influenced by the "herd instinct," they'd rather hang on to aspects of familiarity, people they know, and not contemplate the danger of doing so, rather than venture off and leave the friend(s) and strike out into the unknown. I don't know what I'd be like- "Screw this, I'm saving myself and getting out" or "I'm going back to save Isabel and Dillbird no matter what!" Actually, when I put it that way, I _do_ know.

Jenn Rose- Did you love Fargo, too? So similar. No Country For Old Men is just awesome. I saw that in the theatre twice, and will buy it the day it comes out. I love Death Proof, and loved it more the second time, but Planet Terror was just this big, grand no-holds-barred extravaganza with really cool characters and subplots- and the second time I saw it in the theatre I started bawling my eyes out at the end! How weird!!! It just affects me somehow- that ending.

Ok folks, hopefully I can do this right on this site. Not to many colors match the back ground. I got this from another site that did a review.
This shows where the monster came from. Maize, you must have missed it.

Highlight the area between the spoiler tags spoiler:
No, not in the attack footage. Not in the news footage. In the footage from April that was accidentally erased by Hud.

This original footage doesn’t just include the budding relationship between Rob and Beth. It also has the “first” appearance of the monster.

***WARNING: HUGE SPOILER AHEAD***

Didn’t catch it? Well, go see the movie again, and watch carefully in the Coney Island footage at the very end. You might just see something suspicious drop into the water.

Watch the skies, my friends. Watch the skies.
/Spoilers

Oooooh! I'll have to take a look at that. Figured there had to be some sneaky stuff in there somewhere, being an Abrams project.

Did you check this out?-

http://www.1-18-08.com/

It's a site they put up last year when rumors of Cloverfield started making the rounds. You can click on and drag the photos around. At first it just had 3 photos...the three on the bottom. Periodically, they'd add more. I had forgotten about the site until last night and went back to check it out, and was rather pleased by the addition of the whale carcasses. Neat.

And Nanci- Yes, I did enjoy Fargo, quite a bit. :)

I absolutely LOVED this movie. It was so original! A monster movie filmed from a perspective never seen before, that was the best part about it. CG was awesome, and it had some good humor parts too (flaming hobos, lol!). Not to mention it made me jump at several times. Great movie overall, really an original idea for a monster movie.

I'm really sad I missed out on the whole viral internet fun that went on before the movie came out. Seriously.... they had TONS of goodies to find and follow online. Websites, hidden videos, secret messages, a plot-line to follow leading up to the monster attack, all that jazz... check out www.cloverfieldclues.com they've got all the stuff online there. I hear lots more viral internet content is going to come out until the movies release in like, May, when the movie actually takes place, but don't quote me on that, just a theory.
Highlight for Spoilers || Anyone stay to the very very end of the credits and here that little whispering voice saying something like "we're still alive" "it's still alive" etc? ||

Yes, I did stay behind, but couldn't quite make out what was going on...

You know I think I have the origin of the Monster. I think its Dale, aka Jazzgeek, visiting New York. We do not have an actual photo of him to disprove me wrong. :bang:

I'm going to the movies today but I don't know which one, I was between american gangster and cloverfield

I saw Cloverfield too. Although I thought the beginning dragged a bit, and could have been shorter, I did like it. I don't like it when people make stupid decisions, and I usually like full explanations by the end. It was a little disconcerting to deal with all of the flashbacks. But in this case, it all worked for me.

I could see bits of Godzilla and the Blair Witch Project. I didn't much care for the latter - thought this was much better.

I really liked I Am Legend even better though.
