It's looking dismal out there. But it can still freeze up till March 1st, so there's not much I can do about it.
You can see the winterized burrows- the one on the right is blocked off, and the one on the left has a heating pad on a thermostat, because we're still expecting freezing weather next week, and it also has a heavy layer of grass that I cut, for insulation, as well as a thick wooly rug door to keep drafts out and keep light out so the torts stay asleep.
My gorgeous hibiscus froze, of course, as well as most of the palms. The Chinese Fan Palm is making a come back, but I don't think the date palms or the fig will make it. One grass stayed green all winter. I cut back a bunch of the lemon grass, but I think it's going to come back. The bare magnolia in the back had one flower so far, and I was out of town and missed the peak. Hopefully there will be more!
Lots of these guys skittering around, though!
Hopefully in a couple weeks I can start planting again!
