Treasure!Lol...

The other day (tuesday specifically) I had gotten home from school and garbadge days on wednesday and well, there I saw it... A gift from God, a six foot tall, three foot wide thinggie with shelves in it! I used the word thinggie for it because well I dunno the correct term, bureau, mini closet, etc. Anyways there it was on the curb with trash, all because one door had fallen off. Right away I thought "I am going to put my vivs in that sucker and no ones gonna stop me. Unforunately mother nature was against me, as up here in quebec we still have so much snow and the streets arent very well clean. Anyways I had to carry it alone to my house down the street, with people driving by in there cars looking out their window at this freak kid carrying some bureau thing down a street.

I gotta say it was entirely worth it. My room is very small (live with parents) and its about 12 x 12 feet (im pretty sure my enclosure is too small for me) and I already had my beardies big tank taking up quite alot of space and my two leos who are both in 20 gals, leaving my tokay and corn down stairs... until today, now i hhave all my little budies in my room! The bureau fit everything perfect, I dont understand how anyone could throw something out--Truly was a gift to god to someone like me who was way to lazy to build one himself, lol--Ill post pics of it asap.

:rofl: Someone should let your parents know their husbandry is a bit off!

What a great find! I love using bookshelves as display areas. Can you get us a picture of what it looks like now that every thing's set up?

A bit off topic, but goes along with the smaller rooms for kids thing. One of my friends does interiors and exteriors of people's houses for a living. The house he's working on right now is a mansion.. My boyfriend and I headed out there one time and I ran around the place because I love exploring the skeletons of houses. The place had .. 3 living rooms, one about the size of the whole downstairs of my parent's house, a gigantic kitchen, at least 6 bathrooms, and huge study, a master bedroom that was attached to another open space upstairs that looked like a living room.. I could go on..
But when I got to the kid's room's something was wrong. The rooms were TINY for one kid, and each room had two desks built into the wall as well as two beds. The whole thing was wayy out of proportion and just struck me as very very odd.

Anyway, sorry for the Tangent..

rich people can't be bothered to have kids - to messy. It was probably just where the live in maids bunked down.

To the OP, yeay for found furnishings! I got a great couch that way once.

Found items are awesome - congrats! My craft table in my sewing room was in a trash pile...still using it 10 years later, hehe!

bonus!! I was the freak carrying a coffee table once.. lol. I hate spending money on stands, when it could go for another viv and another much wanted critter, or supplies for the "kids" i already have. lol. great job.

Ill take a pic of the "thinggie" setup with all the geckos and the corn tomorrow after I clean out the two leos cages tomorrow. I did have a problem with the bottom shelf as it didnt fit my leos tank underneath it, the tank was too tall, and i thought it wouldnt get enough ventalation into the tank, so the tank is just set up infront of it directy on the floor.

Congrats on the great find! Can't wait to see pics..ya really lucked out with that..wish I could find useful things like that lying around..lol

Alright here are the pics!

Well here they are, Dont mind the weird colours of my wall and bureau lol:

On the blue bureau (which is missing a drawer and has the pile of clothes from 5 years ago that i really need to get rid of lol) is Spunky, Male leo., Atop the highest self is my Amel corn, Spawn, middle shelf is my Tokay Geck (his name is still undetermined yet) and at the bottom is my female tremper albino leo

Note: Some thermometers werent in the pictures, I dont use the stick on ones on the tanks those were for fisg before, unfortunately i use the exo terra dial ones, yessss i know i need digital ones, Ill upgrade to that soon!

posting at 5am in the morning..lol..man we have no lives on here..lol..but great looking shelf! I'll be moving my reptiles into my bedroom as well (fiance wants to buy another dvd shelf for the living room so the reptiles are being moved) but I don't mind!...heheh..I get to see them when I wake up now..but yes..anyways...great looking setup! I love your geckos :0)

Haha yeah, last night I went to bed at 3 am woke up for school at 7 am im pretty suprised ive made it till now, but I had to get those pics up. Yep the Geckos are pretty cool all really docile except well Mr.Tokay--who really scares the hell out of me. The bark especially, no wait--its probably the fact that he is amazingly fast and bites pretty hard :p. The night i set this up i actually moved him into this bigger exo terra tank from his old exo terra one. I acctually did something like in jurassic park (when the transport the raptor) I openned both doors of the two cages and put them right beside each other with no gap between and blew gently on him till he climbed into the new one then i quickly shut it, lol.

SHOOT HER!! SHOOOT HER!!! lol...alright...had to get that out..but yea..I didn't know leo geckos could be nasty..I always hear about how docile they are..well I'm sure he'll come around in time :0)

Oh, lol I actually meant the Tokay gecko! The leos ae amazingly docile, Tokays are the big green beautiful guys that have the worse rep in the gecko family! And Im pretty sure this guy wont come around, lol.

my mistake on mixing up species..sorry bout that..well at least he's a beauty for your collection :0)

Good find:)
You should be able to adjust the shelves, move the one your tokay is on up a few inches and you should be able to get you other leo on the shelf.

Waldo, you know what, I hadnt even realised that, lol. I didnt even notice all the little stubs sticking out of the inside of the tank, Man Im an idiot lol. But looking at it now I think the tokay tank is slightly too big if i leave it on the middle shelf with the heat lamp over it. Hmmm.

Jessicat, If youll notice The exo tera tank is missing the styrofoam rock wall thinggie, I had to do that because this guy hits like a torpedo, He rarely ever misses but when he did hed take huge chunks out of the styrofoam, he wouldnt eat it just break it off--I really want to get this guy a chunky tail, and thick body--Anyone know and fatty feeders, just to beef him up? That he would take (probably would have to move alot). And Im strictly against feeding live pinkies especially to him as he might just kill it and not eat it.

I really cant express how much I fear this foot long Gecko. I am terrified of him lol, Hes WC ( most are ) and ive tried fattening him up with pinkies, and well, he`ll take the f/t mouse and just rip it into pieces and now eat it, he is one strange angry critter.
