Just do something really terrible to make them break up with you (like pay for everything they do, be there for them, and love them unconditionally) and then you get to make your own decisions.

In any case, I am at the point now where I kind of like being the sole decision maker. If I am at a show and see something I want... I buy it! No one to call... no one to say no. :dancer:
 
Make a deal. She has to have her hobbies that cost money, and this is yours. maybe she likes makeup or clothes and buys lots of it, but seems like she has way more than she will ever wear, or collects something and has a ton of them but every time she finds another she just has to have it. rationalize. she has her stuff and you have yours.
 
Work with her, over time her temperment will calm down, and the bites don't hurt that bad!!!

My ex was horrified of all small animals and reptiles. Than I introduced her to my corns, than to degus, rats, bearded dragon, and more snakes, not she isn't affraid of them. and letting her pick one out made a huge impact. And it didn't hurt that we both liked striped lav's. Her because they're purple (ish) me because it was striped and slightly diff than my anery's!

Stick with it. She'll come around.

There is so much more spare change when you're single!

And then the ex gets bored, and invites himself along to a reptile show, fine, whatever, and then gets BORED and wants to know when we're going to go eat? I just said "I brought you with because?" and never heard another peep about being bored...
 
I would go with the flow if I were you...If you go along with her plan she'll be happy and you get dealt an Ace to be played when you need it.
A year isn't a long time, it'll give you chance to research a lot of animals. Make informed purchases, and stop any impulse buying. You also get the chance to set up all the vivs. Which,by the way, is the best way to get your gf into snakes. Decorating the tank is a great introduction to snakes, as she'll soon want to see a snake enjoy her handy work...LOL. I know it worked for me
 
You guys are hilarious! I'll give all these methods a try

She touched Sixx the other day...it only took 3 weeks. But she swears she will never hold him.

I am probably moving in with 2 girls who don't like snakes so that should keep my addiction in check for a while. It will give me time to save up for my next purchase:)
 
It's always easier to ask forgiveness than permission. If she dumps you get yourself a gf at the next herp show or hook up with a herp/bio major in school!
