hmmm not sure when he escaped but
it's was on the weekends
hmmmm his cage is shut tight and no where to go out so
it's realllllly weird
can't seem to find him anywhere
checked his cage fully took out everything even the bedding
so hmmmm not sure when he escaped how long or so
wish me luck guys
hope i find him :grabbit:

What kind of terrarium do you have for him? I found that plastic shopping bags can be helpful in hearing the snake moving around. And generally they won't go very far, a 10-15 foot radius seems to be a good starting point for a search.

custom made 90*45*45 (cm) the problem is that the window beside the cage was opened on the weekends i dunno who opened it but wondering he could of gone out....blah looking everywhere but nothing right now

Good luck finding him. Before I rescued mine they were at my old high school and the female escaped and was found in the boiler room weeks later. So don't give up. Hope you find him.

Don't give up hope. I think if you do a search on this site you'll find tons of suggestions on what to do to help locate him. One of them is to try to lure him by making his heat source available to him, usually on the ground with the enclosure opened on the side rather than the top. Many people have lost corns and found them, even months later. So, don't give up.
Keep us updated. Good luck.

Like everyone said, don't give up looking. In fact he will probably show up when you least expect it. My friend lost one of his corns 4 days after he purchased it at a reptile show. Two months later he went in the closet to get some shoes . . . there it was looking up at him.

Just this weekend, in fact, as I was waking up I looked at the night stand beside our bed, and there, only inches from my face was one of our corn snakes:eek:. He must have escaped that night and I just happened to wake up when he was in my face.

Also, our pet Dachsund has been excellent at locating escaped snakes. She seems to know exactly where they are. One day she was just crouching and wagging her tail while looking behind the dresser. She wouldn't budge. Sure enough there, behind the dresser, was the escaped snake:dancer:.

In any case, I hope you find him.

Peace.

This is nice sentiment, but I don't think it is probable. While I agree that the OP shouldn't give up hope, I think you'll find that the vast majority of escaped cornsnakes are never recovered. That's why enclosure security is the most important aspect of a corn's care.

I have do disagree Dean, at least in my experience. I've had my share of escapes over the years (mostly when I was a 12 yr old who didn't know what they hell I was doing), but they always showed up. One was gone for 6 months and I found him crawling across my living room one night.

But I couldn't agree more that a secure enclosure is paramount to owning a snake.

I've had two escapees... one I found within a few hours, but the other has been gone over a year, so the chances of her showing up is highly unlikely. I think I'm more likely to agree with Dean... there is alot of snakes not found. Hopefully, the OPs will be one of those that will be recovered. But there is no denying that there are plenty that aren't found :(

hmmmm couldn't find him last night was up till night and dark
heard nothing put vinyl bags near corner and food trap but nothing :p
haven't given up hope but feels bad :(

Have you tried turning his enclosure on it's side and putting it on the ground, so he can go in towards the warmth and his familiar smells? Just a thought.....

I wish I had more ideas for you. My amel that was stronger than I thought and escaped about two months ago was found underneath my 55 gallon vivarium (that my other adult was in) trapped in an underwater fish decoration. I couldn't have imagined that he could have gotten his body into such a small, tight spot; but it turned out that he was slithering away from my three cats after a swipe from one of them. We had to coax him out over about 30 minutes of trying. It's strange where they turn up. I wish you luck again.......

I found mine under the smaller planter inside the other planter that was stuffed with spanish moss and another time he went through the SMALL drainhole to the pump of a dry indoor waterfall (after a 6 hr search I saw the tip of his tail sticking out of the rocks in the fountain). Always within 10 ft of where he disappeared.

That's funny; with a happy ending. You reminded me that I forgot to add that my 55 isn't two feet away from the 20 gallon that my Zeppelin lives in.

One thing that made me think to keep looking there was remembering several posts on this site where the owner had found the "escapee" very close to the enclosure. That also kept me calm enough to keep looking......

ok guys i found him
man you have no idea where he was.....damn
i took pictures i'll resize and draw where he was man
(he was in his cage after all)

the last picture is him looking at me....fixing the hole :smash:
