So, my daughter had the opportunity to catch and release her first Rubber Boa, all by herself the other night. I thought I might share some pics of the youngest Field Herper on Freedom!

This one was probably a sub-adult female. She was larger than my adult male, and had no anal spurs...but still had the pinkish hue of a juvenile. I'm guessing young adult.

Thanks for Looking!!

It's so tiny! I had no idea they were that small.

Go Zayne!

Oh, yea...an adult female might reach 30"...an adult male typically around 14-18". Very small, docile, and HARDY snakes. And they are everywhere out here from around 6,500' straight up to 10,000'.

What a little baby! So cute! How are yours and Kaylie's eating for you? Congratulations, Zayne!!

Right on little herper!

Chris I'm going to have to come out one of these days, you know all the right places..

I may have to come up and visit some family we have up there. Of course we would have to make time for herping. Seems like a very productive area.

Man... how far is Bishop from LA again? Hehe..

Bishop!

Its about 225 miles give or take a few! The mountains there are awesome and town is cool! Bring your camera if you plan to go,there is alot to photograph! Fishing is pretty good too, although its not like it used to be when I started first going there! Maybe next time I go I will have to look for some rubber boas! Those things are too cool!

Chris,
You got the start of another Steve Irwin on your hands. She is going to be a top herpetologist when she grows up.

Actually, the fishing around Bishop is incredible if you know where to go and what to use. I've got wild trout streams teeming with browns up to 20", rainbows up to 30", and goldens all around in the upper elevations. Plus I know of a tiny little alpine lake where you can catch a couple hundred small sandwich-size brookies in an afternoon. Yes...I said a couple hundred...

And there are loads of snakes to find...

Tricksterpup--
Nothing would make me happier!
