Odd thought, but funny.

So I was sitting here at work the other day thinking of the next cornsnake I would like to purchase, so I was debating and kept coming back to the butters. Currently I have two candy canes. So then the oddest, but very funny thing pops in my head. *If you breed a butter with a candy cane do you get a butterscotch candy can.*

I told my husband later that night and he just kept looking at me like a grew a second head. I could see the gears turning in his head and then all of a sudden he started laughing and told me that I was really weird. I would have figured after 17 years together he would have already realized that.

Lol, that is funny ^_^.

So what about a caramel + a butter? Well, they're both CORNsnakes so I would imagine that you would get something resemebling this:

That sounds so much like my Hubby and we've been together 29 years, married for 25, he is still amazed by some of the things I come out with, but then he's a little weird too :crazy02:

Well, a butter is a caramel-amel. Candycanes are amels. If your candycanes are not het for caramel (and they're probably not-- it's not a gene that I would think breeders would want in cc lines), then the offspring would be amels (not even necessarily candycanes).

Don Soderberg used to have a line that he called "butterscotch". I can't remember if they were selectively-bred caramels or selectively-bred caramel-ish normals. Some breeders use the "butterscotch" name for creamsicles that are in the redder end of the creamsicle color spectrum. These snakes are presumably more corn than emoryi...

Frost.....

That was funny!! I frequently get the 'look' from people. I realize that my passion and enjoyment I get from this hobby, makes me a little odd to others. It's the running joke in my house - if Mom hasn't made your eyes glaze over, she's not explained herself fully :D

Enjoy!!

I also believe there is a member here that is in the process of, or at least seriously considering, selectively breeding for candycane butters as she was interested in hatchlings from my female butter as she has a whiter than average ground color. Personally, I would think of calling such a selectively-bred variety "Werther's", after that wonderful butter candy.
