Some cinders ....

Snakes in designer genes
I'm amazed how different to each other some of these cinder babies are. There seems to be a variation from "anery looking" to "charcoal looking" - while as adults the Anery C tag is obviously not right for cinder/ashy corns, I can see why it was applied to the babies.

Comparison of the high and low contrast babies.

High-contrast baby. Apologies for the focus being out, but you can see flecks of different colours in the iris here ... see the yellow spot at the bottom? Very similar to my older cinder girl.

Low-contrast cinder boy, who looks identical to my cinder lad Damascus (there are a few photos of him if you search his name on this site). Almost jet black eyes ...

Low-contrast baby being cute.

And finally a low-contrast with paler eyes.

Congrats! They are beautiful...you must be so proud to have produced some of those in U.K!!! I can't quite decide if I like the jet black eyes or goldy colored better..
I might have a few of my poss het females ready by next year to try for cinders, but 2010 is looking more realistic.

Thank you :) I am really proud to have had the first clutch of them over here ... I am so pleased Rich decided to part with a few of his 05 hets

I love the jet black eyes but looking at my 07 pair, the girl with the pale eyes grew up to be what I consider a prettier snake, it'll be interesting to see if these are the same.

Good luck with the poss hets, I hope they ALL prove out for you!

I like both, high and low contrast babies... They are sooo neat looking babies, congrats, Toyah.. :)

Cheers,
RebeccaK

Very nice! I prefer the low contrast, so far. I produced 2.3 Cinders last weekend from one of Rich's het pair of which the 1st one shed today. I haven't had a chance to really study them but out of the egg, they looked like graphite would have been a better name. All were extremely dark almost black.

I'd love to see pictures of your older ones to see how they've developed over time and again, congratulations!

Nevermind, I just checked out your website, they look great. Your pics of the male, one shows more grey tones where as another shows mostly reds. I'm guessing the pic with mostly reds is him more reciently?

Great snakes!

:crazy01:

They are beautiful, congrats!!!

Thanks :)

Thank you. It'll be cool to see them change as they grow, see if it's still possible to distinguish the high from low contrast...

Very nice! Hope to see more pics as they grow.

You will regret saying that after a while ... LOL. I will post new pics as soon as they're freshly shed though.

Congrats on your 2.3 - great result :) I agree graphite suits the babies, but good job they weren't named on the hatchling looks as they change sooooo much. I remember opening the box from Serpenco and being completely confused by my visual cinder pair. Damascus was almost solid black with no colour and very underwhelming to look at. He's blossomed into a lovely snake now though.

I need to update the pictures on my website ... here are more recent shots of both of them.

Damascus (low contrast, black irises)

Charbray (high contrast, pale irises)

Absolutely Beautiful Babies, I am so excited for you and definitely for me because there are Cinder on this side of the big pond.:D

I ALREADY DO regret saying it! Especially since I'll only be able to admire them from afar! LOL.

As for Damascus and Charbray... STUNNING! They're amazing! I do like the paler eyes of Charbray though.
