Greetings from Michigan!

Hello fellow Corn lovers!
I am a stay at home mother of five (children LOL) one ancient cat and one lovely corn snake. Our corn, "Ella" was actually a birthday gift two years ago for my oldest son who has Asberger's syndrome (for those of you who are not familiar, Asberger's is a high functioning form of autism.) He adores his snake and believe it or not, it has helped him tremendously theraputically. One aspect of Asberger's their very "encyclopedia" like skills on subjects the child is very passionate about. One of his passions is snakes. He could literally out talk us all. When my husband first suggested we get him a snake I was very aprehensive ( maily because as moms we KNOW how pets go, after a few months mom ends up caring for the critter.) as, at the time I was a cat/dog/pet person. But wouldn't you know it, after fighting with my hubby for months on getting a snake, I'm the one who's so emotionally attached to the little critter? Although my son ADORES her, and cares for her attentively, I am the one who spoiles her, cuddles with her, talkes to her like she's a human, sings to her and makes sure that not only is she fed but that her mice are exactly the right temp for optimal enjoyment. My friends don't understand it, and my mother is freaked out by it! Oh well, I love that snake like it is my own child. Yes, I probably do need professional help LOL!
Nice to meet you all-
Jodi

Welcome to the forum Jodi. Hope you enjoy it here. Lots of great info and you'll find a lot of great information here and a willingness to share it.

As a fellow Michigander, I welcome you to our dysfunctional extended family.
You will find a lot of people here very passionate about snakes, as well as a lot of very knowledgeable people. I guarantee you will learn something here, as I learn something new here every day.

Singing, cooing and kissing your snake? AH! I see the disease is progressing normally! We have plenty of people here to help you with that. But this disease can only be cured by the aquisition of more snakes. And our affection can easily be bought by pics of your sweet little hisstah!

Welcome and enjoy your stay.

Devon
