Leucy-Black Rat/Texas Ratsnake

Fred that is exactly what I meant. Lol. As far as LTR's they have been known to get to 7 feet. Black rats have been known to get to 8 feet. That's what I was implying.. lol

Thats fine. It annoys me when ever I go to an expo and a kid buys a retic and tells me thye all get 35 feet long LOL

As personalities go,
I really enjoy my Luecistic Texas Rat. He is puppy dog tame and extremely handible. Trust me, I know mean snakes and this guy isn't even close.

Now as the difference, I own Black Rats and Texas and there isnt much in care. Black Leucy's are a bit more priced and I do plan to buy a few this year for some breeding plans.
I have seen that Texas rats tend to get the bug eyed look but mine doesn't have that. I do not believe its in the Blacks.

But in my eyes the Black Rat you want are the more black ones.
This is a young snake that is very black and is getting blacker at every shed.

SUch a beautiful leucistic snake :) You guys are making me want one more and more..

Please David.. that would have made you 9 or 10. Seriously.. Stop exaggerating. You may have kept or caught them but you were and still no expert on Black rats.

My thoughts exactly...I already kind of chewed him out earlier in the thread...felt kind of bad, but he has some inconsistencies in his advice...

I am planning on working on various morphs of these guys over the years. The only one I will have to wait on is the Cowsucker line to go down a bit. At $600, a still little steep for me to buy a Native Rat snake.

I could only ever justify spending that much if it were more as an investment, knowing I could make quite a bit out of it...I don't think my itsy-bitsy wallet can even hold that much fat cash! lol
Kind of a cool morph though...
I've gotta say the Leucy makes my heart skip! I love the clean look and the blue eyes! And yours is just amazing!!!!!

Thanks, we got him as an adult though.. so we didnt get any of the terrible twos. But he is a well behaved snake.
Here is a better close up on that eye.

I have been amazed at these guys and I also plan on getting some Leucistic Black rats this coming year. I want to work with their genetics, I think there is so much untapped in them. But I have been working with various rats over the years and one of my favorites still by far are Fox snakes.

actuallly trickster I got a black rat at 10. I never claimed to be an expert. In claimed to know alot. There is nothing wrong with that I have always had black rat snakes and wrote a 3 page paper on them I van send you if yopu like. Again I am no expert but 2/3 of my collection are rat sankes. 1/3 are black rats. So please don't say I am exagerating. i want to be a good member and people have already said I'm doing better.
The calico cow suckers are pretty cool. Out of my price range tho!
I do like the brindles they are very pretty in their own quiet way, I like the leucys because they have a stunning look for a white snake. Albinos are very cool but Albinos are very comon. Sunglow black rats are nice little guys. A breeder in Rcihmond wants to breed my WS to his sunglow to make WS sunglows, but my WS is still to young.
All the best,
David D
