As personalities go,
I really enjoy my Luecistic Texas Rat. He is puppy dog tame and extremely handible. Trust me, I know mean snakes and this guy isn't even close.

Now as the difference, I own Black Rats and Texas and there isnt much in care. Black Leucy's are a bit more priced and I do plan to buy a few this year for some breeding plans.
I have seen that Texas rats tend to get the bug eyed look but mine doesn't have that. I do not believe its in the Blacks.
But in my eyes the Black Rat you want are the more black ones.
This is a young snake that is very black and is getting blacker at every shed.

Yor welcome. Glad to help. I ahve worked with black rats for 5 years
Please David.. that would have made you 9 or 10. Seriously.. Stop exaggerating. You may have kept or caught them but you were and still no expert on Black rats.
Thanks, we got him as an adult though.. so we didnt get any of the terrible twos. But he is a well behaved snake.
Here is a better close up on that eye.

I have been amazed at these guys and I also plan on getting some Leucistic Black rats this coming year. I want to work with their genetics, I think there is so much untapped in them. But I have been working with various rats over the years and one of my favorites still by far are Fox snakes.
