Bite Ouch!

My male Leopard Gecko took a nice bite out of my finger by accident tonight. I put his crickets in and went to remove his hides so they weren't in his way. Well the cricket ran by my finger he lunged and grabbeed the cricket and my finger. It shocked me and I jumped and the poor guy went flying. He was unaffected and went back to chowing down while I was trying to stop my finger from bleeding, lol. Here is a picture of the culprit and my poor finger. It wouldn't stop bleeding, it was worse then my Iguana bites and there bigger, lol.

I used to have a leo and I had no idea they could draw blood like that! But that is mainly because I was never bitten by her in all they years that I had her.

Wow! I didn't think they had teeth. I always thought they kind of smash the crickets w/ their tongues against the palate before swallowing. :)

When I was baby sitting a couple of them, I used to, on occasion, feed them newborn pinkies. They would gobble them right up! I think their teeth are primarily for holding on to food, so it don't wiggle away.

Did you bite him back? LOL! ;)

No, I did give him a kiss on the head instead for making him go flying, lol.

I didn't know they could do that either, now I know to keep my fingers away when he's in hunt mode, lol.

I knew he had teeth but had no idea that were that sharp.

Wow, last time I was bitten by a leo it felt like velcro. He really wanted that cricket! I guess on a positive note, he's a good feeder....

Definitely didn't feel like velcro. It still hurts this morning but I have had much worse bites so it's all right except for when I'm trying to type, lol.

As for his feeding... he is a pig!

I never knew they could bite like that. Maybe it was the cricket that got you with its hard skeleton. When my leo girl bit me it didn't even bleed, but ut really hurt. My thumb nail was black and blue and hurt for quite awhile. I forgave her.

Thanks a lot!! I opened this thread while sitting next to my boyfriend and his response was "still want one of those?!" :p

What a cute leo!!

I have had her for over 5 years and only been biten once. It was my fault. I was trying to get some shed of her toes. She said enough is enough. I actually was shocked. Never expected it. She is a sweet heart.

Lol, sorry. Most Leopard geckos don't bite and from the sounds of it most bite cases don't normally break skin, but when mine is hungry he is a beast, lol.
