Hookup #2! Dumerils boas

I honestly had never heard of needing CITES paperwork in the US unless you planned on exporting. I guess in Europe, it's because the country borders are so much closer, so you might be selling to someone who's only taking a day trip to the country.
No, it's to own them.....
We'll get some more info for you........

I've seen that before. Yes, the US is on that list. No, I have not heard of any cases where you need CITES documentation UNLESS the animal (even though CB) was IMPORTED.

;)
I know where right about this,
This is a international legislation.:D

Please see above reply.

I'm going to be talking to Fish and Wildlife on Monday, and I will also be contacting the CITES secretariat to find out EXACTLY what's going on. Sorry, but going just on your word doesn't work for me, especially considering I've gotten a contradicting opinion from other people. The US (while agreeing to CITES regulations) has different laws than the UK. Sorry if this sounds rude, but you don't know the US LAW on this matter. What's law in the UK might NOT be law in the US. IF I do need A10 paperwork, I will gladly figure out how to obtain it, and will do so.

Unless Florida just become a banana republic, its included... number 9

Yes, I see. The United States is number 7 on the list. I currently have e-mails out to 8 different Dumerils breeders, and the secretariat of CITES. I'm calling the department of Fish and Wildlife on Monday to see EXACTLY what's going on from the AUTHORITIES who KNOW the law.

I wish I hadn't mentioned paper work now..... I was only wondering how it was your side of the pond.......
The US is a different country, it will probably work like the international agreement on green house gasses... LOL

I am absolutely positive if Robbie needs paperwork, he will obtain it. I don't see the point of drumming it in any longer guys. Horse is dead, stick is broke. Robbie knows what he has to do.

Sorry to disagree Elle....
I said paperwork was needed... The USA thought it only applied to Europe....
(Just read back a couple of pages)
I wish I never mentioned it now.... I couldn't care less who has the paperwork and who doesn't... I'm not mentioning anything about reps again...
I'll stick to general chit chat and making smart comments.... Everything else gets me into trouble.... :(

Pick your dummy up off the ground Mike. Come on dude, you are old enough to know better. How can you possibly be "The Devils Advocate" without mentioning anything about reps evur again lyke omg?

TBH Elle, I just try to smooze and be entertaining..... Forum life ain't the real world, it's just a place to make contacts, friends and network..... At the end of the day I couldn't care less what people do with their animals.... Sad, I know, but in my corner of Wales I can't influence people or their beliefs.....
I wish I never asked about A10 papers.... It was just a remark that was better than saying, 'nice snake, thanks for sharing'... LOL
I believe Robbie is a good guy, and will look into what I said..... But the reality..... Nice snake Rob, thanks for sharing......
Anyone ever seen the Butterfly effect.... LOL

Well you cared enough to make such a fuss... that's all I am saying. And when you get wound up your backup always comes running along...

I personally don't give a rats about what anyone else does with their animals because like you say, this is a forum, and people WILL do their own thing regardless of how much you point them in the right direction. That's not to say I am not concerned, just wise enough to know that my opinion will be worth nothing to a stubborn fool. (none of that paragraph was directed at you in any way Robbie, but you know that anyway lol)

I did care that the letter of the law was being miss interpreted.
DYK, my back up was the one I was asking if I was right.... LOL
He's very knowledgeable about all things exotic, and I turn to him, then google.... He got involved because I kept asking him if it was this or that. So he posted..... When we meet people they always talk to me and ignore Joel..... It's that point I tell them that he's the one they've been talking to..... I'm the bank, he's the brains in our partnership.... LOL
Tommorow we are on a run to drop off some off some snakes and pick up some..... All these people have talked to me on the phone, but tomorrow they will find out it was Joel they done the deal with and I just drive....
DYK.... I'm dreading the day he can drive and I am no longer needed in his enterprise.......

You know, the only necessary part of that post was the first line. I don't see the relevance of the rest of it *shrugs*.

Mike,
Sorry to say but you brought up a great valid point. I have not heard of papers needed for these guys but maybe they need papers??
But then again, maybe we are not importing any more into this country. I know Indian Pythons were not very common but there are a few owners here in this country. We no longer import them in and I believe they are on Cities as well. (please correct me if I am wrong) But I think the US is not strong on papers on animals like this. I know If i wanted an indigo, i would need a permit, due to the fact if i am bringing it over state lines but if i got one from a local breeder i wouldnt need papers.

So, please keep asking questions like this. Its a valid point and would love to find out what information Robbie finds out. I know things are changing here in the US and we should be aware of any changes.

No Elle the first line was just Blurb..... The rest of the post was important...... I need to let people know that I may be the adult, but Joel is the brains as far as our enterprise goes..... Christ you would be surprised how many reputable breeders now realise that he is the one they've been chatting with, an the ol' man is the chauffeur

DYK...... Ignorance is bliss
I wish I never mentioned it.........
Tyflier is on another place and I asked the question there..... They said no, to papers, but as it's international I thought they were wrong......
As Robbie is a straight edged guy I thought I would ask again........
God I wish I had n't......
Have you heard the one about the Irish man the scots man and the welshman........ I'm sticking to these posts......... LOL
