What is the earliest your snake has laid eggs?

Buzzard

two corny
Okay question?

What is the earliest your snake has laid eggs? I am talking from the the time they mated to the time the female has laid them????

I am curious, I know the general rule of thumb is 60 days. However My girl mated with the boy on the 22nd (the last session). She looking quite plump, and I noticed she is starting to go into blue (usally 5-6 days before she goes blue her belly pattern start getting dull and white) Doing the math this puts her shed at about a month. And if she goes 15 more days before laying she would only gone 45 days??????
Does this sound right????

Sorry to rant and bug but this is a first time 4 yr old girl and I feel like a worried father.....

I'm gonna post in this thread since the subject is the same, I hope it's ok. ;)

ok, here's the deal:
I've got a pair of blizzards and they had 6 confirmed hookups, being that the first one was on february 23rd. she has stopped eating, and she shedded on march 29th. she already has a laying box in her viv since the day she shedded, but she only gained 7 grams, and there are no eggs yet. It's been 45 days now. Do you think this is ok?
I'm going a little nuts right here 'cause last year my corns went by the book and a week after the prelay shed, give or take a day or so, they gave me eggs...

Anokas, don't get nervous yet, I am currently waiting on a female that shed on 3/31, so I am at day # 9 with no eggs. I would not worry until after 14 or 15 days, leave her alone check once a day, looking in on here every few hours will only stress her and could possibly lead to egg binding.
I feel your pain, i am getting a bit impatient also, seems like the first clutch of the season never comes !!!

my lavender stripe female layed this year 16 days after her 1st breeding... without shedding... there were only 4 good eggs and 11 slugs.. but 6-7 weeks sounds normal

Can you see/feel eggs in her? I've had them take up to two weeks after their pre lay shed, so I wouldn't worry yet.

today is day 13 after the shed for my female. I'm a little nervous too cause this is only my second year and she laid on day 9 after the shed last year. I put a second lay box with her last night. Fingers crossed for today or tomorrow.

I really don't know how eggs are suposed to be felt, since last year when my corns were gravid, I didn't feel anything out of the ordinary in their bellies, but I do think my female blizzard is a bit swollen, but I've got this theory that when snakes are of very light colors they seem smaller and thinner, so I don't see a very large swell, but then again, last year I didn't notice that either on my other snakes... I guess all I have to do now is wait, as previous said, but I must confess that this is the hardest part of the year, and I mean for everyone, 'cause the wait is killing me... lol
Thank you for your answers.
With my best regards
Ana

Yup,

Agree that approx. 45 days from copulation to laying is the average period of gestation. However, there is always the exception to the rule.

I own an Xanthic Butter Stripe who is an uber fast worker.

1st breeding Season '08:

Mated - 20th &23nd March - eggs laid: 19/04/08

2nd breeding Season '09:

Mated - 10th & 13th Feb - eggs laid: 09/03/09

30 & 29 days respectively to complete the entire event.

Always be prepared for the exception.

55 days and no eggs... this is not normal i think??

Ya,

The longest between mating & laying that I have on record is 54 days.

However, just because your female laid 9 days post slough in her previous year of breeding, does not mean that she will stay on this schedule in each successive year.

Let's hope that she will lay soon.

Regards. Lex
