Anybody try the Exo Terra Rock Formations hide?

Tavia

Elemental Exotics
I was thinking about getting two of them & wanted to know if anyone has tried them, & what they thought of them? Thanks for any replies!

They are great for small snakes but a full grown corn doesn't fit in even the biggest. I like them a lot for Leopard geckos though. Filled with Spaghnum Moss they are perfect for shedding and egg laying chambers.

Is there a similar hide available that IS large enough for fully grown corns? I've been having a hard time finding something for my adult corn that's large enough for her to fit in, as well as being suitable to hold some spaghnum moss for a moist hide.

I think there is one, the Repti Shelter 3 in 1 cave, somebody just asked about it in another thread. I think the biggest one would work for an adult? I have the middle size one & my snake really likes it, but I like the way the Formation one looks better. I only have hatchlings & am having some trouble trying to picture if these hides will be big enough to work when they are adults just from reading the measurements.

There is a thread in the DIY section about someone who has made several really cool looking hides using Sculpty III clay. I plan on trying this myself. You can get it at places like Michaels. You shape it and then bake it. It comes in different colors so you can create natural looking hides. Search the DIY section, I'm sure you'll be able to find it. It can't be too hard and then you would have the perfect size that you need. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your suggestion kelihe! I'd actually thought of doing that, I've used Sculpty clay before, but didn't have any real idea about how to try & make it look, where to start, if that makes sense. But if I can see some that someone else has done, that will give me some ideas.

Your welcome Tavia. I found the thread. It is in the DIY section, page 2, titled "clay hides I made" by Calift, I think that is who is was. I think they are pretty cool looking. I got some sculpty clay today at Hobby Lobby. It's suppose to rain here tomorrow, so maybe I will give it a try for my son's corn, diablo. Right now he loves his terra cotta saucer on the warm side but it is just getting too shallow for him, so I'm thinking of making something in that same shape but a little bit deeper.
good luck if you decide to try it!
