It must be very popular, the link tell me it's unavailable and to try again later.

I didn't mean to hit post.. nothing was accomplished that I could tell, but it is not over by a long shot. Miles to go before we sleep.

It's not lunch break? (I had a patient right then!) Will they take away peoples' pets they already have? NO. Will this be limited to invasive species? YES. (There was one other really important question, which I have conveniently forgotten...)

Lots of questions were ask by the panel about some of our concerns but the guy that answered them gave "yes" "no" answers because he knew if he elaborated it would just give us more ammo. The only thing that seem to get anywhere was on grandfathered animals getting a permit to be moved beween states, not that is much.

Sooooo..........what going to happen now? They going to have another meeting about this or what?

Kathy, looks like good info, but I got bored after the 2nd update. Just kind of blabed on about what the people were doing... I will look at that archived video

So correct me if I am wrong here.........

But upon reading these comments, what I am getting is that the ACTUAL working biologists... not the lab-based theorizers.... the department of natural resources folks and the people from the USFWS think the law is basically useless as it is written because 1) they don't have the funding to enforce it, 2) states rights are going to be trampled, and 3) there is no need to blanket ban organisms that cannot survive in colder climates of the Northern states?

As for the registration and the identity card thing for moving my animals across state lines... I am not really sure if I am happy about the feds knowing what and how many animals I keep. I am within the laws of my jurisdiction... but it seems to me that giving them more information about my life if also giving them more ammunition....

"Meyers: We did host a meeting of stakeholders to try to evaluate this bill. We'd like to convene another group and work through section by section and work out where we should have better state and federal provisions, clear up confusion."
When did they hold this?? Will USARK be sending reps? Can citizens attend??

"Rep. Faleomavaega from American Samoa asks Mr. Meyers for dollar value of pet industry:

Meyers: Around 43 billions dollars. Major portion is dog and cat food. Says there's not that much data on non-native species, but it's billions of dollars. "

Damn straight... I spend thousands a year on my pets... they are my children. They need to realize this. I already wrote my round 2 letter and I'm mailing them off again tomorrow.
