My Herp Room: Revisited

RobbiesCornField

Bring it on.
Some of you may remember a while back when I "remodeled" (aka moved a bunch of crap around) my herp room. Well, I did it again. This time to fit another shelving unit in there. Just so you know, this is what you can do with a 10x11 bedroom (if you have the patience... LOL). On a side note, I think it's starting to get a bit cramped in here! Time for a new house!!!

When you first walk in the door, you're greeted by this:

Off to your left will be this lovely shelf. Occupants include BRenda the Bloodred, Marquis the Dumerils Boa, Ted the African House Snake, Craig the Beardie, and 2 incubators. One incubator is for corn eggs, and the other is for BP's (IF my girl ever drops!).

Further down the line are these 2 racks from Reptile Basics. The cooler is my current feeding day thaw chamber. The locking tub contains extra aspen. Rack occupants include (top to bottom, left to right) Luci the snow corn, Nemesis the motley snow corn, Vicky ball python, Lizzie the snopal corn, Josef the amel corn, Alex the ball python, Adolf the charcoal corn and Joseph the hypo snow corn.

From those racks, we turn right to see this rack. Occupants include (bottom to top) Archangel the ghost corn, Kiyoshi the Japanese rat snake, Napoleon the sunglow boa, Tumbleweed the Trans Pecos rat snake, Lucy the ghost motley stripe corn, Aphrodite the ghost corn, and Maxwell the anery motley corn. The plastic bags attached to the rack are for poo cleaning.

Continuing further down the aisle, you'll notice the end of the line in this section of the snake room. Occupants are Josie the BCI and Dusty the Trans Pecos rat snake.

If you'd been completely ignoring the right side of your body as you were traveling through the room, you would have missed this "rack". Occupants are Shesmu the burmese python (on top) and Mary Shelley the boa.

Now we're in that space created by the shelves. If you look at that last picture, you see where the purple vacuum cleaner handle is? That's where we're at now. Occupants of this section include Marquesa the Dumerils boa and Penny the anery motley corn.

To your right from the last picture is this shelving unit/rack. Going top to bottom left to right, occupants include Andy the Okeetee corn, Hera the Ruby Eyed Lavender Albino California Kingsnake, Benito and Mao the creamsicle corns, Mary and Vash the bloodred corns, Ed the yellow rat snake, Bucky the funky anery corn, Daemon the Leucistic Texas rat snake, Blayne the Lavender zig-zag corn, Serlena the ball python, Cruella DeVille the classic corn snake and Mark the ball python.

If you were just walking in the door, this would be off to your immediate right. All 14 tubs house corns belonging to Torsten (1 normal, 8 hypos, 2 phantoms, and 2 sunkissed silver queen ghosts). The tank next to the tubs houses Jiang the anery corn.

Thanks for looking!

Next to the first-aid kit!
(Although I shouldn't laugh, it took me months to handle Mr Bonney without gardening gloves on)

Haha! Yep, that's my big boa glove! :D
I definitely think that's the appropriate place for a first aid kit, though. Just underneath a boa tank. LOL

I spotted the wussy glove too but was beat to it. Dude you need more space though you inspired me hear I was thinking I was cramped for room, lol I'll just have to make aisles and get over being overly organized:)

Holy Moley .. How many Snakes do you have?! LOL!

40-ish that are mine, plus 14 that I'm babysitting, and a bearded dragon. :D

LOL! Yeah, I know... I'm thinking about just extending it down the hall into the rest of the house! But Tony wouldn't like that. (By the way, that's the first time I've EVER been described as "overly organized".)

Hey very nice setup ya got there! As cramped as it may seem..at least everything is in order :0) You definitely have A LOT of snakes...lol

Good use of space Robbie. Nicely packaged and you can still walk around.
Now, on to room two...

LOL! There's always a method to my madness. :D

It's like most teenagers (myself included): if you make us clean our rooms, we'll NEVER be able to find ANYTHING. If you leave it alone, we know exactly where everything is... Always. Lol.

(And I do NOT have "A LOT". I have SEVERAL.)

Hey... If you only have "several", I only have a "few". I wonder if that means I can convince my parents to let me get more...? (Just kidding. Save that troublesome job for future roommates and spouses post-college!)

Hm... Aisles... How do you heat the tanks in the middle of the room? Outlets in the floor, ceiling? Extension cords?? Lol. I've been trying to figure that out, because my new, giant bed/snake room is all floorspace and the floor and outer walls are all cement (day basement). =\

Nice set-up! If I let myself get out of control with snakes, I think my herp room would look worse than yours LOL

(not saying you have a lot of snakes ;) )

Hey nice setup. What do you do for heat, are the racks heated or do you just keep the room warm ?

Rick

Thanks! For heat, I let keep the room pretty warm. Ambient temp is between 80 and 85 on any given day. 83 is usually the temp where I observe most activity from the snakes, so I try and keep it right around there.

Good use of space Robbie. Nicely packaged and you can still walk around.
Now, on to room two...

I have another room I can use?!!?!?!?! WHERE!!!! LOL

It's FL. No heating required. LOL

Where is your new empty space? :)

On top of the black racks. :D That's where all those tubs on that blue metal shelving thing were originally stacked. I can fit PLENTY more up there! Haha.

Oh believe me. This is only the beginning! Haha.

Thanks a million for the tour, Robbie. You make an excellent docent. I feel like I was just taken through Biltmore by a real Vanderbilt. :D ;)

It gives me lots of ideas. You have really used your space well.

LOL. Thanks, Eric!

DYK it's so much more fun to give/take the tour in person?
