I thought Tara had posted this, but I was unable to find a thread related to it. Also, I'm trying hard to bump up the number of non-political general chit chat threads in order to prevent a mass-exodus of valued members. I expect to have at least ten pages of replies on this little guy.

My friend and fellow moderator (I am no longer a mod there) on my fish boards, Cindi, has found herself in a bad position with regards to her home. She rents it from relatives and they found out about her reptile collection and made her get rid of basically everything. She kept a few lizards, but the snakes and turtles all had to go. Tara and I were supposed to go to Daytona, and we were going to pick up her baby mud turtle and bring it back home. Unfortunately Tara's house did not sell and we had no money for such a trip, but thankfully, Kathy Love stepped in and collected the turtle for us and shipped it to us. We are forever greatful, because without Kathy's help, this little guy could never have reached us.

His name is Squirt!! Here he is. The two photos of the turtle were actually taken by Cindi, and Tara took the one of his tank. We haven't yet pulled him out for his traditional grey fur photo... will try and do that tonight while we feed the snakes. He is so cute, and tiny! He eats meal worms and pellets.

I will reply!! He has a great looking home and his name is so cute! Will he remain a squirt or will he get big?
 
I'll compliment your dinky little turtle if you congratulate my new babies Razzle and Orchidee on their first meals!!!

I saw the first post on him, though, right after Daytona. He's so cute! And a manageable size!!

Thanks for the replies everyone! I feel validated again and my self-esteem has gone up.

Nanci... I KNEW we had posted him, but I could not for the life of me find the darn thread. I even did a search. *sigh*

He will grow to maybe 4" if he's a huge specimen... he is about 2 years old at this point, mind you... they are slow growing and really do stay small. Kind of an ideal pet water turtle.

I just had to come back to this thread because that turtle is just SO DANG CUTE!!! Cuter than any of the other turtles at Daytona. You got the best one. Of all turtle hatchlings in the universe.

Congrats - glad he made it up there ok, and that he has such a beautiful home!

Guess this, and similar posts, will prove how much people really want to participate on some general herp, non political, threads, lol!

I LOVE Squirt, Lauren. I'm sooooo sorry that I spent too much time on the political threads. I'll make every effort to be more sensitive next time...:poke:

I certainly hope to see more pics of Squirt as he grows. He's such a cute little guy.

Squirt is very cute! I haven't had turtles myself, but have admired them from afar!

He's adorable :) I've never really wanted a turtle, although my brother has a painted turtle who's pretty cool. I hope you have years of enjoyment with him! Do they live as long as most other kinds of turtles?
 
Ah, very cute. I have a baby red-eared slider in my classroom. I like the fact that Squirt will stay so small! Ups the cuteness factor 10-fold :)

That's not a cornsnake.!!!. He looks less than 4".??!. Are you using him for educational purposes?.!?? You know there is a law...?!

Speaking of laws and governments and oppressive statutes........(lol)...!?!?!?!?!?....!!?
