We went down to VA to visit with Tara's parents this weekend and picked up a rescue.
Midas is a 4-5 week old baby lutino cockatiel who was an "unexpected suprise" from an old pair of 'tiels owned by a coworker of Tara's mom. They did not want him and were growing irritated because they had to keep him and his mom in a cage because his dad kept trying to pull out his feathers.
I finished hand raising Toby. It was a scary process and not one I am keen on... but the other option for this little guy was way worse, so we'll give it a go. He's cute and his feathers are almost all in. We had our first successful hand feeding of him this morning. His crop is plump and full and he weighed in at 90 grams.
I also got a chance to ride Amber, Tara's mothers 20-something mare. She had not been ridden in quite some time, and was a little stubborn with the green rider on her back, but it was fun. Tara actually rode her too, but the camera "refused to cooperate" for a photo of her! Bah!
