Cool Kid
My name is Jeni. I'm 19 and I have wanted a corn snake since I was a little girl. I finally had the chance to get one, so I jumped on the opportunity!

His name is Fluffy Cornelius, and he's my little angel. He's around 5-6 months old. I've had him for about five weeks now and I figured joining a forum would be another great way of getting tips on how to keep my little buddy healthy and happy.

I'm still learning all the ins and outs of corn husbandry, so I appreciate any and all feedback. I've been trying to read as much as I can about my corn, and if anyone knows of any helpful books, tell me so I can buy them!

I only have one picture on this computer, and it's a fuzzy cell-phone picture, but it's pretty cute! It's from the first week I brought him home.

Howdy Jeni, welcome.
Try Kathy Love's book; Corn Snakes, The Comprehensive Owner's Guide.
Don Soderburg's Corn snakes in Captivity
And you might want Chuck Pritzel's Corn Snake Morph Guide

I can't see the picture. Which morph is he?

Also another recommendation for Kathy Love's book.

Welcome to CS.com. You've come to the right place to have all your questions answered. Best of luck with your new snake.

He's candy cane amelanistic (I believe). I wonder what happened to my pic =/ I posted a few more in the photo thread, if you'd like to look there.

I looked. Your snake looks like just an Amel, but that could change with age. Candy canes have MUCH more white, but some candycanes look like normal amels when young.

Typical candy cane: http://www.moreptiles.com/candycane1.JPG

Candy canes are basically amels with miami phase in them for higher whites.

Either way your amel is pretty.

Thank-you. I was wondering what he was exactly (besides PERFECT). I knew he was amel, but I saw pictures of candy Canes and they looked a lot like him.

Thank-you. He is very, very beautiful.

Just wondering! Is there a quick, fairly accurate way to tell what "his" gender is?

It probably got lost during the server move. Anything posted in the last few hours didn't get backed up. You can just re-post it!

Welcome to the site!

Thanks, guys! The pic I posted was a bit blurry anyways (phone camera), so no loss. The pictures I posted in the image thread are much more worth a look see!

I can already tell why everyone around these forums is always talking about how it's impossible to stop at just one corn. They're like Lay's potato chips. "Betcha can't love just one!"
