But there is more to the story than just the lower fees. When I came to Atlanta, there was a well known ophthalmologist that charged $2500 for a cataract surgery as he felt the was the best. [...] What I am driving at is that those of you well off will not be able to go to the head of the line under this new healthcare plan, just because you have money, as no physician will be willing to go against the law to treat you.

I just wanted to query this part of the original article that started this thread. Was this being presented as a good or a bad thing?

The only thing more laughable than Fox "news" is Fox "news" reporting on Fox "news", thanks for the link and the laugh, although to be quite honest Jon is much funnier and even as a comedian publicly admits his bias, the same can not be said for Faux "newsiness".
America would seem not to agree. FoxNews has higher Nielson ratings quarter over quarter month over month than both MSNBC and CNN. :shrugs:

FNC’s O’Reilly was tops in the hour with 702,000 demo viewers, marking its 102nd consecutive month as the top-rated cable news program.

At 8 p.m., MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann was down 26% year-to-year,...

FNC’s primetime demo tune-in beat MSNBC and CNN’s combined, averaging 463,000 demo viewers.

And when did popularity ever equate to veracity? Because if that's the case, Howard Stern is a sage. :grin01:

This reminds me of a few famous quotes:

Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.” Mark Twain

"The man who does not do his own thinking is a slave, and is a traitor to himself and his fellow men." Robert G. Ingersoll

I'm not comparing networks, you are. If you want your "newsiness" loaded with suggestion, bias and opinion, then that's what you deserve, just don't expect people to take you seriously when/if you quote Fox as a source of information ( I will not call it news).

Not my facts. They belong to Mr. Nielson.

I will assume this was not intended personal.

Allow me to fix your statement.

Uhh...is that supposed to be a good thing? If the majority of American Households are getting their "news" from Fox, it's no wonder they beileve Obama is Hitler, Bush was a good president, and we don't need healthcare reform.

It all starts to make sense...

Is this really true of fox news viewers?
and somebody asked a good question: What do you call news?
and where do you get your news?
(and by "You" I mean everybody, not just one particular member)
I am just curious how members here stay informed.

I actually watch some of all the major media sources, read from 10+ online sources, listen to the radio, then compare notes and form an opinion(including the radicals Limbaugh, Maddow, Olbermann, etc). But that doesn't fit the convenient pigeon holing that is assumed. :shrugs:

This was for Fox, not Nielson. I could care less who watches what on TV, I personally don't watch TV at all, neither do I have cable.

This can be applied to whosoever it fits, but no it was not intended to be aimed at you personally.

I could say the same except I don't "watch" anything, all TV news is sound bites and that's all it's really worth. I would include NPR and the BBC as well, what I won't include is any "radical" on either side, unless of course the entertainer Jon Stewart ( who probably has more political savvy and intelligence than any of the other "infotainers") is considered by the right to be a "radical".
All news orgs. have some bias, it is the nature of humanity. Fox goes way beyond anything I've ever seen, they crossed the line a long time ago. They create their own news, they source their own "infotainment" as news, they're "news" is hyperbole and outright fiction at times. They're the worst of the worst and no amount of tangential remarks or sidetracking distractions will change that.

ps) I didn't conveniently "pigeon hole" anyone. You're the one equating Nielson ratings popularity to some sort of intelligence factor. How does that work? I should now regard Fox as "newsworthy" because the Nielson ratings tell me so?

I absorb as much info as possible. If listening to Olbermann rant about something then investigate it as much as I can from as many sources as I can using opinions, views, and info from the far left to the far right is a bad thing color me terrible.

What?!?! No where in that post did I equate popularity and intelligence. You stated Fox was laughable and I stated that according to Nielson many Americans would seem not to agree. :shrugs::shrugs::shrugs:

I watch all the major news networks, including msnbc and FOX, and I rarely trake anything on any news program at face value, without looking into it further. I also read as many bird cagte liners as I can get my hands on, follow reports online, anmd listen to CNN News on the radio throughout most of the day.

But The Daily Show is actually my favorite news program. It may written from a satirical point of view, but at least Stewart attacks everyone that deserves to be attacked, regardless of political affiliation, and he also supports anyone that deserves support, regardless of affiliation. He's one of the few hosts that can have a reasonable and intelligent "hot topic" conversation, with "honchos" from either side, and still alow the facts to speak louder than the rhetoric. As much as it is supposed to be a "comedy show", in my humble opinion, it's the best thing going in news media, right now...

But I still do the research on my own...
