Perhaps then if you keep your house overly warm, then maybe you are not providing a proper temperature gradient for you snake. He may simple be sitting in his water because you have not provided a cool area for him to regulate his temperature, so he is self regulating by sitting in his water.
A good heat gradient is to 85 degrees on the warm side and 75 degrees on the cool side.
how are you heating his tank?lights under the tank heater uth? and what is the temp if you have a temp gauge?
Well, he has a warm side and a cool side.
What are the temps of each side? Again, you said you keep you house rather warm, and you just mentioned you don't use a guage on your heat mat(meaning thermostat I assume) so maybe the warm side is a bit too warm??? and the cool side is hot because you keep you house hot???:shrugs:
I would remove the uth. If your house is warm and the uth is unregulated (as in no thermostat to control it) his tank is over 100 degrees. Take it off now, don't feed this week, and get a thermostat or rheostat ASAP he is overheating if you ask me![]()
He's probably fine, some snakes like to soak ( I think some members thought you were soaking the snake in a separate container,
just a mistake, easy to see how it'd happen.yeah...that was me.
I was wwoo wwon wwoooo wong!!
But when you said soak instead of sitting in water bowl, well ..... you understand.
I need a back rub. :sidestep:
