First, I want to thank everyone's posts. Although I hadn't posted yet, everyone else's really helped my husband and I get our terrarium/viv setup correctly. We had some issues with the temp and humidity, but come to find out it was correct all along. We just had a bad thermometer/hygrometer combo out of a kit.

It's our 5 year wedding anniversary Oct. 29th, and I got my husband a corn for his present. He's always wanted a snake, and when he handled it at the pet store, the snake seemed to take to him. Well, as much as a snake can. I'm not sure how old he is, but he's about 1 1/2 feet long. We've named him Indie, which is short for Indiana Jones...because Indiana was always afraid of snakes. He does live up to the name though, he's constantly exploring his new surroundings. He's found a great little niche in his "hot" hide.

We've had some firsts this week. He ate on Wed. with no problem at all! We've handled him for the first time since he's been home without any incidents. He was hesitant, but once out of the viv, he was fine just exploring us. I have to admit, I'm starting to like the little guy. I never thought I would welcome a snake into our home, but I'm glad I did!

Again, thanks to everyone's posts and experiences. It's helped us know what to expect these first couple of weeks. Hopefully I'll get some pictures up.

Hello & welcome! Happy anniversary & congrats on your new addiction, er addition!
Looking forward to pics. Do you know what morph it is?

All I know is that he's a "normal". But I'm not sure all the different morphs yet. He was called brown, but I personally see more red in him similar to a blood-red. It'll be interesting to see after he sheds again.

Here's a picture of him. Forgive me, it's not the best since he was in his tank and it's with my cell phone...will try to get better pics posted.

Congrats and you've seemed to have done research before so congrats again :) have fun, it's all a learning experience for WHEN, not if, you decide to get more lol :)

A 'normal' means he isn't a morph. He's the wild-type, the base type. And they are often the prettiest, and have a huge level of variation in how they look. Congrats on your new snake!

Awww, that's a great story, and I love the name!

Although the lastest Indiana Jones movie was a total fail compared to the others I DID think it was pretty hilarious that he has to grip onto a Burmese Python to escape quick sand! :grin01:

Also, kudos for doing research on the site before posting and asking questions. That's awesome! There's TONS of knowledge here to soak up.

Welcome to the addiction, and let us know when Indie gets a Marion Ravenwood. Trust me, it's nearly impossible to keep just one!

wow that was a great cell phone pic. I just got my first corn too. Before I saw this site I didnt know jack about snakes. But this is a great resource and I love my 5 month old corn. Will we get more, like everyone on this forum seems to think? Interesting question. I am totally in love with my No. 1.
