Daytona Dinner - Final decisions?

Just wondering if everyone is still interested.

The closest buffet with 'general choices' is the Whistle Junction on US 1 in South Daytona. They don't make separate steaks like the Ryans did, but there is usually steak on the menu. Otherwise very similar to a Ryans, which it used to be.

Since we had a lot of votes for no seafood or chinese restaurants, it is probably the best choice. They do take groups, but need a number about four days in advance.

Let me know what everyone wants to do. We need to decide on what day, time etc. pretty soon if you would like me to call ahead. I'm probably the closest to Daytona. I also need at least a ballpark figure on how many there will be.

Count me in ...

for a table of two. Where exactly in S. Daytona? We have a Condo in North, close to Ormand.

You can count me and hubby...if it's still on! It's for Saturday the 19th and fairly early in the evening, as I recall...5 or 6...right?

Let me check with Joe but I am pretty sure he wanted us to meet up with everyone for dinner as well. We are driving out friday after I get off of work and spending the night out there so we can get to the show bright and early on Saturday. We figured we would be spending all day at the show and driving home afterwards. So dinner before we head back would probably be a good idea anyways!

We'll be down there.

Yeah, Saturday night pretty much right after show closes, right?

Why don't we plan on having everyone who wants to meet around Kathy Love's table an hour before close so we can get everyone on the same page.

Does the place require reservations? I thought most buffet places were walk-in friendly.

Jonathan and I will be there. I'm flying down Friday night and flying out Sunday since I couldn't get off work (he could though).

Sounds good to me!

Might be just me coming - hubby wants to be sure to be back for the auction and might want to hang out with non-corn people (can you believe that!!??) Or he might come too - not sure about him yet.

I have a couple of friends who will probably come too - count me in for about 3 people - more or less!

Sounds like a plan to me! And knowing my hubby, the tough part will be keeping him at the show for that long. I could always send him "home" with the snakes then have him come back when we're getting ready to go.

They don't really require reservations, but would prefer to have some idea how many. Maybe that way we can have them have tables all pushed together for us.

South Daytona is...well, south of Daytona. Once you cross onto the mainland, going over whatever bridge you find easiest, you go to US1, (the expo fronts on A1A, not the same thing) and make a left. It is also known as Ridgewood Avenue.

South Daytona is the next burg down, but it all runs together. The Whistle Junction is on the right. Not hard to find, but if we all meet, like at Kathy's, the more timid travelers can caravan.

What time would be the best, do you think?

Lara and I are in. We'll be there at Kathy's table at what ever time everyone decides on. I can't wait.

Bumping the thread...Daytona this weekend. Woo Hoo...can't wait.
Was there a final decision on what time to meet at Kathy's table? Joe and I are definately coming. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I'd say meet 1/2 hour prior to close by Kathy's table so we can get everyone on the same page and pass out directions to those that need them.

:D

Wish I could make it. :(

I'll be looking forward to pics of you guys at the Daytona show... not to mention any new aquisitions. :D Have fun!

Is this correct?

If so, we can have a bunch of flyers printed up so people can have directions to get there. :)

(Ignore the weird color at the bottom, LOL...)

1: Start out going SOUTHEAST on N ATLANTIC AVE / FL-A1A toward MAIN ST / CR-4040. 0.4 miles

2: Turn RIGHT onto E INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY BLVD / US-92. 1.3 miles

3: Turn LEFT onto S RIDGEWOOD AVE / US-1 S / FL-5 S. 2.6 miles

4: Make a U-TURN at OLIVE ST onto S RIDGEWOOD AVE / US-1 N / FL-5 N. <0.1 miles

Yes, we should meet before closing and go directly to the restaurant. Then we will beat the Sat. night crowds, and those who want to go to the auction in the evening can still go to that as well.

Ditto! Is there someone in charge of taking pictures and starting a Daytona thread once you all get back?!! :crazy02: If there are any votes taken on anything . . . um, yeah, whatever . . . I've got 13 cents and a piece of navel lint saved up for Daytona '07 so far!

I'll try to remember to bring my camera and all 3 batteries...and to take pics, but don't hold me to it! My mind isn't what it used to be.

My boss calls me this week,

BOSS: ''I need you to pick up a truck from Jacksonville. Get a 1 way ticket for Thursday morning.''

ME: (thinking to myself:rolleyes: Daytona's only about 1 1/2 hours away, I'll drive to Daytona, hang out at the show and go to dinner and start back on a full stomach with possibly some 'new friends' to keep me company)

....:bang: back to reality....

BOSS: "...and have it back in Cleveland by Saturday night."

Have a great time and somebody tip a cold one for me.:awcrap:
