New arrival--07 Miami from Carol

2003 UB313
Well, I wasn't supposed to be getting any more snakes. And I've been good, for a whole year. But then Carol went and advertised some of her nice Miami males for 30 bucks, and I was also owed a birthday present from my mom (yes, from 3 months ago!), and it really couldn't be helped. I mean, what's a girl to do in such a situation? :shrugs: I strongly suspect the 4 possibly good eggs from Pele's clutch won't be producing anything for me--I don't see any veins when I candle them, and they're starting to get the mold that first overtook all of the pretty definite slugs, so I doubt I'll have any hatchlings of my OWN to watch this year. So, the only thing to do, really, was to buy one.

Here he is! Every year, I forget how tiny they are as babies! He's a whole 8gs! He spent the last hour and a half trying to find a way out of his critter keeper, but now has given up. I really like his looks. He's so contrasty compare to everything else in my collection, and in a really aesthetically pleasing way. I think he rounds things out quite nicely. Here's hoping he keeps that contrast and all of that beautiful silver! Oh yeah. His name is Colorado.

He's gorgeous!! What a cute little guy! I love his name. Colorado the Miami. Yeah, that was a super deal on those...

Thanks, all. He's the only snake I've had who was named before I got it. I wasn't sure it would stick, but it did. It's fun to have a baby in the house again. Such a quiet little baby . . . The best kind! :grin01:

Oh yeah. No plans, Tula. He's just a pet for now. I don't know what I'd do with him, actually. To me it seems that the best thing to do with a Miami is make more and better Miamis, but I didn't buy him a girlfriend. But maybe in a couple of years.

You mean you named him, right- I hope Carol doesn't name all her many hatchlings! (I probably would!)

I named Inez before I got her, actually before I even bought her, and Jake came with a name that I kept. And I named Lila before she arrived. Their names were all perfect fits.

LOL! Yes, I named him. But usually I can't name something until I meet it or at least see it. Like when people ask for name suggestions, I don't have any until I see good pictures of the snake. And sometimes, it takes me a while to figure out the name of things.

Dont let Nanci fool ya. she has names picked out for everything before she even knows she is getting it! :crazy02:

That's right! It really narrows down the choice of possible snakes if they have to match my name that I want to use!

(I still need an Isabelle some day...)

He's stunning, Steph. Then again, I haven't seen a "Huddleston Miami" that wasn't a looker.

Congrats!

Ha ha!

Glad you like him. I think I recall that you're quite partial to them, no?

Ah, no worries. It was all for the learning experience anyway, and I learned. So it was good. It was fun learning, too.

And hey, if your eggs go bad, get thee a hatchling! :grin01: Cures all ills. :)

Great new addition!! He looks beautiful already so I imagine he will be a gorgeous adult! Of course, I am partial to Miami's - especially Carol's as I have three from her already. It is really really hard for me to not snatch up everything I see her put up for sale.

Looking forward to seeing progression shots of this guy!!
