She's an '06 produced by Rich Hume. She was a slow starter, and she's my smallest '06, but now she's on track. She's just under 60g, and her next meal will be her first hopper.

It's a cool thing when you take a snake out that you haven't "studied" for some time, and you're shocked by how great the snake looks. Of course, the stripe gene is a cheater route to perfectly diffused bloods, but I'm taking that route. She's less than a year old and only 60g, but I think she looks as good as some of the large, older bloods of the best lines. Since I didn't produce her I can risk sounding immodest. ;)

I didn't mess with photoshop or camera settings, but the lighting was very flattering to her. But I'm sure she looks just as good in natural light...

She's beautiful... I really love that deep, bold red. I hope we'll see more of her as she progresses in to adulthood. :cheers:
 
Dean this is one of those snakes I knew you had, because I remembered when you got her. But I have been waiting for pics of this girl!
She is awesome! Of course, you don't need me to tell you that!

I don't know how much more "progress" I can expect from this girl. She's already about where I'd have expected her to be as an older snake. She'll probably get more "belly-bleed" though. :shrugs:

As you can see in the photo below (taken by Joe Cala on 9/10/06 before I even got her home), her striping was limited as a hatchling. I had my choice between her and a more completely striped female, but I felt the partial stripe was a better choice to achieve my bloodred ideal (i.e., patternlessness). But she has already developed the subtle, full-body melanin striping that many of the most diffused quality bloods get when they're years old.

Awesome Dean. Carol is almost perfect. I feel exactly the way you do about Bloodreds. The less pattern the better. I think this line from Rich Hume is excellent. I'm beginning to believe that this line will have to be a major component in the making of all patternless morphs in the future. Great snake Dean.

What a beautiful snake! Good luck with your project, and with her as one of the parents of the line, I'm not sure you can go wrong.
 
There's no beating a striped bloodred. That girl looks great. She's going to be among your most impressive adults when she gets there. Are you going to breed her to Vlad?

Great call. "Vlad" would be a great match for her. Can you imagine a perfectly patternless Lavender Blood? Then, and only then, I might be convinced to accept the name "Plasma".

I don't know if I'm breeding her to Vlad. He's patternless now, so I CAN imagine a patternless lav-blood. ;) I bred Vlad to a stripe het lav this year, so I'll have those hets to play with. Carol's het anery, and I have an '06 granite het stripe that might be a good choice too. I'm also probably picking up a proven granite stripe male from Mr. Hume, so that would probably be the best choice. So striped lav-bloods are definitely planned or in the works, but I don't know if Carol will be a participant in that right away.
