the factory is now *closed*!

Twang'em into trees!
Ok, ok...I caved (and the boyfriend allowed me a final holiday gift!)...but as they say in Spanish (which I think is the funniest of expressions!) : ya cerró la fábrica!!! -- the factory is now closed! (It's used when a woman has decided she's not having any more children... )

So, please meet *my* three close-out specials, courtesy of Michelle/Creatures of the Night:

Zya (a play on an Arabic name meaning "splendor") : a feisty lil'charcoal...it is beyond easy to get a photo of her because she is such a ham! Her feeding response is insatiable -- at her second feeding, she kept striking at the lid of her feeding container when she saw my finger, after already taking her first pinky! I had to cover her to calm her -- and then I slipped her another pinky. She's a meat & potatoes girl -- no salad for her!

This photo cracks me up...it's as if she's saying, "Not by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin!" or "Go away, no one's home!" or something of the like...! (She's in a little "casita" that I bought potentially for one of my leopard geckos, but it fit better for Zya...)

Hyetti (Arabic term of endearment meaning "my life") : I found out that she hadn't eaten for about 14 days prior to my picking her up, and Michelle graciously gave me the choice of her sister, Zya, if I'd rather not go with a problem-feeder...however, because I'd given her the name of "my life," I felt it to be a sign, and I decided to try -- and she hasn't refused yet. :) Hyetti is incredibly shy, and photographing her prior to today has been near impossible, but she seems to slowly be coming out of her shell. However, she's the calmest snake I've ever met: when I took her out of her tank today, she stayed coiled up, even in my open palm, for quite awhile. Maybe she thinks that she's a ball python?

Looking a little more relaxed...

Lastly, the gentleman of the bunch...and no relation to "the sisters":
Habibi (Arabic term of endearment meaning "my sweetheart" for a male) : a normal aztec who has been a pain to photo because he's so photo-shy, but an easy one to care for & a fantastic eater. A super-cute lil'guy.
Having his first pinky...

Giving a lil'tongue, over a week later...

Thanks! :wavey:

Sweet new snakes, Christina!!! I really like Zya, and all of their names are great!

So now you have 2 more females to grow up and eventually breed...right? ;)

What beautiful babies, good luck with them!

So, Hyetti is a "problem child" when it comes to feeding, but she's eaten for you? That is wonderful news! I have known of animals that ate great for their breeders but not for their new owners. It is really nice to hear of a snake that was a problem for the breeder but turned around and ate fine for her new "mommy". She must love her new digs!

Wow, thank you, everyone... What a nice, celebratory way to "close down" my factory...:)

Thanks -- need a name? I'm available for all of your naming needs...;)

Breeding? Oy -- we shall see, we shall see! By the time these babies are all-grown up and ready to go, I'll be in Charlotte & I'll let you have your pick of mate...:)

I'm beyond thrilled...I was really worried that she wouldn't eat, and I haven't had many pets die on me :uhoh:, but I thought that I'd at least try with her...I was even going to change her name because I really like the name Hyetti, and I didn't want to have my "Hyetti" die! Then, I thought -- no, it's got to be a sign..."my life", so she has to live. So, I gave her LOTS of space & calm & quiet & hiding spaces & I haven't touched her (aside from feeding) since I got her. She's been getting one 2 g pinky every 4 days, and I injected her first two with NutriBac. And, in her feeding container (which is the same cup in which she came to me), I keep a crumpled paper towel for extra-hiding -- including a cloth over the cup when feeding. Then, after feeding, she goes right back into her tank, still in her container, onto the warm side...I think that the combination of everything has helped. She's begun to come out more, between climbing into her tree & stretching out along the top of the tank's lid...and, best of all, she's eating & digesting. :) I'm thrilled. :dancer:

very good looking hatchlings!

Looks like your boy is a butt muncher!

Congrats on the new additions!

Thanks! I'm equal-opportunity with my snakes: butt munchers, head munchers...they're all welcome chez moi. :)
