My Pewters--Amazing Difference

What addiction?!
I love how different these two look. The lighter one is the male and he is about 3-4 yrs old. The darker one is female and is 2 yrs old.

beautiful, I don't believe I've seen a cornsnake the color of the darker one before! very nice!
It looks like there's alot of brown in it.

Gorgeous on both accounts. I know it's only 3 snakes, but makes me wonder. My """male""" Pewter turned out to be a female and is very very dark as well. Male Lavenders tend to be lighter than female Lavenders. I can't say that I've noticed a significant difference in Charcoals, but at the same time I've only had one male Charcoal that was about the same color as the female Charcoal I have. Aww, just thinkin' out loud.

Hmm, apparently you haven't been stalking my blue bowl pictures as well as I'd hoped, er I mean thought. :poke: I'd make it easy for you and post a pic, but that wouldn't help hone your search skills.

I remember your blue bowl thread, dark snake thread very well Brent. I think his has much more brown in it and yours was more of a charcoallly (very scientific lingo here), darkish pewter, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the comments every one. :wavey:

Thanks Brent. I think you might be on to some thing. My female charcoal with poss hets is very dark too. Interesting.

If I ever had to chose between them, I don't think I could either. LOL

Nice looking animals! I actually like the male more...I'm one of the few who don't like the darker snakes :duck:

I'd love to hear from somebody that's hatched out more than the few dozen I've done. And quite honestly that was a couple of years ago now. :shrugs:

I'm very forced to wonder what their offspring would look like. o_O
Ditto. Exactly what I was thinking. Um, Becky.....???? :D ;)

No, but seriously I like the most pattern-free one, and most-metal-ish, which is the lighter one to me. Looks like aluminum. Or silver leaf.
I really really like pewters, and I still cannot explain why. (My collection is leans toward the more vivid colors.) Both of these are very beautiful.

Thanks Mike, Eric and Katie.

I forgot to mention the male was bred to my bloodred girl, she's very red. They gave me 12 nice eggs so I can't wait to see the babies from them. :)

I love Pewters !

I like the silvery light colored pewters more, but there was a recent thread on dark pewters and their ability to develop a patternless grey corn.

My adult male is much lighter than my female, and their offspring shows the same pattern (light males) but it could be that line - maybe others have light colored females ?

I, also, must comment on this pair.

Whilst I admire the Pewter male in all his splendor of pale silver.

This is the 1st time that I have seen such a dark Pewter.........

Your female is, indeed, an interesting looking individual.

I hope you will keep us updated on how breedings progress with her over the years.

Kind regards. Lex
