My Dog When She Was Rescued

I took Bella to Kanapaha Botanical Gardens today. I bought a membership there, because it is beautiful and shady and dogs can go, but they have to be on leash, and no one dares cheat. So I took a couple pictures of her, and sent them off to the rescue she came from and to her foster mother who kept her at her house while she was treated for heartworm and recovering from being spayed.

Bella and the Budda Belly Bamboo (which goes up at least twice as high as you can see here). Kanapaha has an enormous collection of bamboo.

Here's a picture of Bella when she was picked up from the pound and taken to the bully breed rescue, Mike's Dog House. She had eight pups. They all found homes, and she was the last one to be adopted (by me!) At least her previous owner dropped her off before she died. Her name, then, was Princess.

cute dog. my brother has a blue pit named bella, and shes pregnant as i type this. i cant wait to get one of her pups someday. probably not this time, but someday.

What a pretty dog! The dog in my avatar is Bella too. That was her name when we adopted her.

Her last pic is so sad. :( I hate seeing dogs/cats like that. She looks really happy now.

At the rescue she was called Cherub and Hoochie Mama. I named her Bella before I knew that was the most popular female dog name...Oh well.

That last picture of Bella made me sad, but she looks great now and really seems to be enjoying herself.I think her name is cute even if Bella is a common name I think it suits her well.

You are an awesome mommy Nanci! It's amazing how great she looks now that she has you taking care of her!

Wow Nanci, you're awesome for giving an old pit momma a chance. Adult pits are a dime a dozen, and most people want puppies.

I want to know what she's hauling around in that cute little pack, lol.

I think an adult dog is WAY better than a puppy!!! In her pack Bella has Polar bottles of ice water for her and Gatorade for me, the cell phone, my wallet (so we could get in), bags for poo, and a break stick in case of a dog fight. And treats for her and usually the camera, but I was just carrying it because I knew I was going to be taking pictures.

Its amazing what some good love and care can do for a dog. I am so glad that she was taken in and brought back to good health and now has a happy home with you.

I know the lighting is likely different, but her whole coat now seems to be a different color. Definitely a different texture.
Seeing (what looks like) a pit bull sitting peacefully, leash coiled on the ground, sporting a backpack, in a public park posing for pictures......I am sure that made her adoption people feel good and warm and fuzzy.
And I've never heard of a dog named Bella, but it is a good name. Rather more dignified than Hoochie Mama.

Bella is beautiful!! Such a transformation. Bless you for adopting her.

My two hooligans are rescues. :D

What a beautiful girl! Bella looks wonderful compared to that last picture! I have yet to meet a pitbull that I didn't like. They are such wonderful dogs when you give them a chance. I can't wait until my family lives in a house or apartment where dogs are allowed so we can rescue a friend or two. :)
