Rrrrrriccccoooo says HI!

When I lost my sweet Baxter the lovebird a few months ago I was pretty devastated. I was ready to go out and get another bird ASAP...but Lauren was more practical and thank goodness. I had time to morn and to decide what I really wanted to do. We looked at lots of bird types and decided that a conure would be a great companion bird for us. I fell in love with this handsome devil and now he is home with us! He is a Nanday Conure...I have a baby picture I will scan for you later. He was born in June I believe. He is such a love. I am moving my computer into the bird room so I will have a funny companion everynight when I draw and cruise the interwebz.

Congrats Tara! He's absolutely gorgeous!! I've actually just recently fell in love with a conure (blue-crowned, I believe) that my local pet store has, but I have no room or time for a bird (or experience with them for that matter), so I just enjoy him while I'm there. :) I'll be sad when someone buys him, so I'll just come here and look at the wonderful pictures of yours (post lots of them).

Awww.....Ricccccco! (gotta have that mandatory roll :D)

He's beautiful! Conures are great birds, I'm sure you'll have many years of fun with him!

Aww he is too cute! Congrats on your new baby and I'm sorry to hear about Baxter.
We have two conures of them at work and the Sun Conure hates me, she bite me the other day and broke the skin. The other one is a Nanday Conure, I think and is a little shy but much nicer. I would really like to get one but my mother does not like how noisey they are.

Rico is doing well. He is pretty young and doesn't say anything yet... he may never, but that is okay too. He was born on June 24, 2009.

I have been experimenting with foods today. He had 1/4 of a whole wheat pita (which he shredded into tiny pieces and threw on the floor), some "birdie bread", which is milk-free corn bread mix with veggies and other stuff mixed in, and some chopped apple, which he really liked.

You did end up getting a conure! Congrats! I just LOVE the Nanday's little red "socks" :D

That name is absolutely perfect! He is sooo handsome! Did you get him from a breeder?

My two conures Monty (the GCC) and Hektor (BCC) say "Hello"!

No... Tara fell in love with him at the local PetCo (this is why I try to keep her out of pet stores). He seems pretty nice, if a bit nippy. But he is young and testing some boundaries... we will work on the nippy thing.
